Program Overview
ABB's Discovery Program is a two-year rotational development program designed for recent graduates eager to explore diverse career paths and gain cross-functional exposure. As an Operations Discovery Trainee, you will participate in two rotational assignments that provide hands-on experience in project management and order management.
Your role and responsibilities
In this role, you will have the opportunity to lead the execution of small projects. Each day, you will ensure that all related activities are executed in accordance with procedures, regulations, standards, specifications and targets. You will also showcase your expertise by defining and applying basic project scheduling techniques to manage schedule risks proactively. You will be responsible for preparing accurate customer quotations, processing orders efficiently, and ensuring a seamless flow of information between sales, operations, and customers.
The work model for the role is: hybrid
This role is contributing to the Operations and Project Execution in ELDS in Canada. Main stakeholders are external ELDS Internal Operations and External Customers.
You will be mainly accountable for:
- Supporting and progressively taking ownership of leading project teams, coordinating activities across functions to achieve project objectives.
- Monitoring and controlling project progress, schedules, resource utilization, and project financials, with guidance from experienced Project Managers and the PMO team.
- Supporting the identification, assessment, and management of project risks and opportunities, and helping drive appropriate actions throughout project execution.
- Supporting the successful completion of projects, including formal customer acceptance, contract close-out, and acknowledgment by the customer, in accordance with contractual requirements.
- Entering and managing customer purchase orders in the ERP/CRM system with accuracy.
- Coordinating with production, logistics, and supply chain teams to ensure on‑time fulfillment.
- Monitoring order progress, proactively resolve issues or delays, and communicate updates to customers.
- Issuing order confirmations, shipping documents, and invoices when required.
Qualifications for the role
- Recent graduate (2025-2027) with bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical engineering or a related engineering/technical field.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to translate complex information into clear messages.
- Analytical mindset with ability to work with data and market insights.
- Enthusiasm for learning and adaptability to work across different teams and product lines.
- Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Collaborative approach and strong interpersonal skills.
- Interest in technology, infrastructure solutions, and sustainable energy transition.
- Willingness to contribute meaningfully to team objectives from day one.
- You are legally authorized to work in Canada.
