Director, Oncology Translational Medicine Project Manager

Job Purpose:

The Oncology Translational Medicine (OTM) Planning & Execution team is a dedicated group of Scientific Operations, Project Management, and Alliance Management professionals that integrate, manage, and drive execution of OTM’s biomarker and diagnostic strategies across GSK’s global Oncology portfolio.

The Director, Oncology Translational Medicine Project Manager, will provide high-quality project management support to the delivery of OTM strategic initiatives, and to the OTM Leadership Team, including the Clinical & Translational Biomarkers, Precision Diagnostics, and Clinical Pharmacology Modelling and Simulation (CPMS) divisions.  Accountabilities include, but are not limited to, management and oversight of translational research alliances and collaborations, regulatory submission planning and tracking, and coordination of diagnostic target profiles. The OTM Project Manager oversees strategic and operational management of external alliances (e.g. academic centres) for biomarker discovery and acceleration.  The OTM Project Manager drives the planning and tracking of portfolio-level CPMS-related regulatory submissions, ensuring high-quality data packages and documentation are delivered to support oncology asset development and approvals. This role also coordinates activities related to target diagnostic profiles.

The Director is accountable for planning, execution and stakeholder coordination across OTM and the Oncology Research Unit, Clinical Operations, Data Management, Regulatory, and Finance, as well as external collaborators.  The Director will schedule and run project meetings, maintain dashboards and decision logs, oversee budgets, contracts, and resource needs, manage risks and interdependencies, support regulatory submissions and compliance requirements, and deliver clear reporting to the OTM LT.

Responsibilities:

• Lead operational oversight of external alliances and academic collaborations focused on biomarker discovery and acceleration

• Support scientific and business leads in establishing alliance objectives, scope, and success metrics aligned with OTM and Oncology portfolio priorities

• Coordinate meeting forums with partners (joint project team, working groups), ensuring decisions, actions, and risks are clearly documented and followed through

• Translate the collaboration strategy and vision into integrated, detailed project plans (scope, milestones, critical paths, dependencies, risks)

• Track alliance workplans for biomarker discovery, assay development, etc., ensuring partner deliverables align with internal scientific needs and timelines

• Monitor performance against agreed milestones and KPIs (e.g. data generation, sample throughput); coordinate course-corrections where needed

• Support contracting activities, SOW development, and operational oversight for external alliances, in collaboration with Procurement and Study Leads

• Coordinate alliance-related budgets: track spend vs. plan, support PO/invoice workflows, and reconcile against contracted scopes

• Monitor progress versus plan; proactively identify issues and interdependencies, escalate as needed, and coordinate cross-functional mitigation plans

• Schedule, structure, and run alliance meetings and project team meetings (set agendas, pre-reads, minutes, action logs), track and drive closure of decisions and actions

• Build and maintain integrated plans and tracking for CPMS components of regulatory submissions (data packages, reports, validation summaries) across the Oncology portfolio

• Support compliance with regulatory expectations by organizing CPMS documentation and tracking contributions to regulatory submissions

• Track status of required documents, reviews, and approvals; proactively identify gaps and risks to submission readiness and coordinate mitigation and escalation

• Coordinate the creation and maintenance of Diagnostic Target Profiles, including management of the associated database
