Our Unique Work:   

The Compliance Function is a second-line independent advisory and control function within the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. The mission of the Compliance Function is to protect the Bank and serve the public interest by ensuring the Bank adopts sound risk-based compliance controls and by promoting a strong ethical mindset.

Working with the Bank’s Technology Group partners and stakeholders across the Bank’s business areas, the Director of Financial Crime Compliance Technology Solutions will oversee the ongoing development and effective implementation of technology solutions that advance the Bank’s Financial Crime Compliance objectives, including oversight of a dynamic set of transaction monitoring scenarios appropriate to the Bank’s risk appetite and customer base.

This role reports to the Bank’s Head of Financial Crime and Trading Compliance and sits within the Bank’s Legal and Compliance Group.

How You’ll Make an Impact as a Director of Financial Crime Compliance Technology Solutions:

• Support the Head of Financial Crime and Trading Compliance in leading the implementation of technology solutions in support of effective financial crime compliance (“FCC”).  
• Identify, develop and implement FCC transaction monitoring scenarios appropriate to the Bank’s products and services and consistent with its risk appetite. 

• Create and oversee the testing and tuning of transaction monitoring scenarios prior to implementing them in a production environment and on an ongoing basis. 

• Evaluate internal control structures related to automated FCC solutions to identify potential weaknesses and associated risks. 

• Partner with appropriate First Line colleagues in overseeing the implementation of Know-Your-Customer and case management functionality related to FCC technology solutions. 

• Establish and maintain working relationships with third-party vendors relevant to the financial crime systems initiative. 

• Develop collaborative working relationships with other Bank stakeholders including the Risk and Audit Groups, relevant to the implementation of this technology. 

• Develop role-related presentations and perform special projects as assigned. 

 

The Unique Skill Sets We’re Looking For: 

• Relevant professional experience and deep subject matter expertise with regulatory, financial crime, AML and sanctions compliance.

• Established track record working with financial crime compliance technologies, including transaction monitoring and KYC systems.

• Design and implementation experience in AML technologies, including transaction monitoring rule development, tuning, and optimization.

• Experience with AML/financial crime technology solutions, such as SAS, NICE Actimize, Quantexa, Palantir, and/or other similar technology platforms.

• Experience using analytics tools such as Tableau or Power BI.

• Experience writing SQL queries and experience with statistical programming languages such as Python or R.

• Expertise in common fraud or money laundering typologies.

• Ability to proactively manage change in a complex and dynamic organizational, technological, and operating environment.

• Strong collaboration skills, with a focus on positive intent, and ability to develop strong relationships and partner effectively with others in pursuit of common goals.

• Ability to identify and analyze issues independently, draw conclusions, and produce reports and recommendations that translate an idea into appropriate action.

• Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills, including experience providing client service to employees at all levels of an organization.

• Background handling sensitive and confidential information and treating employees with compassion and respect.

• Strategic orientation with the ability to anticipate issues, identify emerging trends, and recommend a course of action.

• Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and multitask a variety of responsibilities under time constraints.

Other Things to Know:

Salary Range: $225000 - $275000 / year
