Provides administrative leadership which may include one or more teams performing related work such as housekeeping, linen, or laundry service. Establishes and implements goals, standards and practices that guide and support initiatives that relate to Environmental Services, while ensuring the delivery of high-quality services and exceptional customer/employee experiences. Develops and fosters a solid partnership with leaders, work teams and other employees to facilitate and collaborate on initiatives, to resolve operational challenges and/or to improve processes. Works with senior leadership to develop and establish short- and long-term strategic plans that complement system, operating unit or affiliate goals and initiatives, including business, operations, and/or organizational priorities. Sets priorities and allocates resources to align with business objectives and annual plan. Develops and establishes the direction of policies and procedures and sets a structure for providing a safe and productive work environment. Establishes overall operating and capital budget with costs including labor, purchased services and supplies with input from management team, ensuring financial targets are achieved and variances are addressed timely.Sutter Medical Center, Sacramento is the foundation of Sutter Health, Northern California's largest health network with 29 acute care hospitals, more than 5,000 primary care physicians and specialists, home health, occupational health, psychiatric care and more. The downtown Sacramento medical center is made up of several facilities that include Ose Adams Medical Pavilion, Anderson Lucchetti Women's & Children's Center, and Sutter Center for Psychiatry.
Ose Adams Medical Pavilion
The 281-bed specialty medical center focuses on general acute medical/surgical care as well as a medical base to advanced services for cancer, orthopedics, spine, and neurology, and neurosurgery.
Anderson Lucchetti Women's & Children's Center
The 242-bed specialty medical center focuses on women's and children's specialty services and includes medical intensive care units for cardiac and neurological patients.
Job Description:
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor's: Business or Healthcare Services, or related field.
TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:
- 12 years recent relevant experience.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
- Knowledge of environmental services operations in an acute care and non-acute care setting in work standards, policies and procedures, quality control, environmental safety, waste disposal, infection control, and employee training programs related to department operations.
- Understands business and operational requirements for Environmental Services demonstrating ability to design and establish goals to meet long and short- term objectives.
- Demonstrates ability to effectively plan and provide services consistent with applicable legal standards and regulations. Knowledge of hazardous materials and chemical handling procedures and protocol
- Demonstrates credible leadership presence, with the ability to respond to questions with logic, clarity, calmness and authority; and the ability to motivate and engage others.
- Ability to build and establish effective working partnership with employees, peers and leaders to achieve business objectives.
- Collaboration skills to facilitate open sharing of information and cooperation with various stakeholders.
- Ability to handle difficult circumstances and make sound business decisions with little direction.
- Working knowledge of wage and hour laws.
- Demonstrates commitment to providing exceptional customer service and responding to customer needs/requests in a prompt, courteous manner.
- Verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey concepts and communicate information or issues in a manner that is readily understood by management and employees.
- Interpersonal skills with the ability to deliver presentations to a variety of audiences.
- Understanding of the budgetary process and familiarity with the healthcare financial environment.
- Working knowledge of California regulations (Title 22), OSHA and JCAHO are imperative.
- Delegates effectively, with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment with changing business priorities.
- Demonstrates flexibility and is adaptable to change and is able to inspire others to welcome change.
- Demonstrates ability to work/interact with a diverse population while respecting cultural and linguistic differences and fostering an inclusive work environment.

Pay Range is $117,436.80 to $176,134.40 / annual salaryThe compensation range may vary based on the geographic location where the position is filled. Total compensation considers multiple factors, including, but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure, certifications, departmental equity, training, and organizational needs. Base pay is only one component of Sutter Health’s comprehensive total rewards program. Eligible positions also include a comprehensive benefits package.
