DICK’S Sporting Goods is seeking a business-minded attorney to join its Legal team as Director, Corporate Counsel – Advertising & Digital Marketing. This role will support marketing, advertising, and commercial initiatives across the organization, with a primary focus on Foot Locker brands in North America.

The successful candidate will partner closely with marketing and business leaders to provide practical legal guidance, negotiate and draft commercial agreements, and support high-profile campaigns and brand initiatives. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney who enjoys balancing legal risk with business objectives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Legal Counsel

• Provide day-to-day legal support for advertising, marketing, promotional, and commercial initiatives.
• Advise business and marketing teams on legal risks and opportunities while enabling strategic growth.
• Support high-visibility campaigns across multiple retail brands and business units.

Contract Drafting & Negotiation

• Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including:
  • Agency agreements
  • Sponsorship agreements
  • Collaboration and partnership agreements
  • Licensing agreements
  • Influencer and creator agreements
  • Media and advertising technology agreements
  • Vendor contracts
  • Manage a high volume of contracts while balancing business objectives and legal protections.

Cross-Functional Partnership

• Collaborate with stakeholders across Legal, Marketing, Privacy, Intellectual Property, AI, and Compliance teams.
• Identify legal and regulatory issues and coordinate with subject matter experts to deliver practical business solutions.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to cross-functional partners across the organization.

Legal Operations & Process Improvement

• Support the development of templates, playbooks, and scalable contracting processes.
• Assist in improving Legal team efficiencies and supporting broader departmental initiatives.
• Provide guidance to legal team members on contract drafting and issue spotting.

Experience

• 3 to 5 years of legal experience.
• Experience in a law firm and/or corporate legal department.
• Experience supporting advertising, marketing, commercial transactions, media, technology, consumer-facing businesses, or retail organizations preferred.

Knowledge & Expertise

• Working knowledge of:
  • Advertising and marketing law
  • Consumer protection regulations
  • Trademark and copyright law
  • Rights of publicity
  • Privacy and data protection laws
• Understanding of retail, e-commerce, digital marketing, and evolving business models.

Skills & Competencies

• JD Degree

• 3-5 years of experience

• Experience practicing law, preferably in a law firm or corporate legal department.
