DIPPR Project Coordinator

Join a respected research project that helps provide reliable chemical property data to engineers and scientists around the world. The DIPPR Project Coordinator leads the day-to-day work of maintaining this important database, working closely with faculty, student researchers, staff, sponsors, and industry users. This position offers the opportunity to apply engineering expertise, guide meaningful research, and mentor students as they prepare for careers in engineering and science. We invite applications from engineers who enjoy solving complex problems, communicating clearly, and supporting the development of students.

What you’ll do in this position:

Lead Technical and Research Activities

• Guide the review, evaluation, and improvement of chemical property data.
• Help ensure that the database is accurate, consistent, and ready for regular distribution.
• Work with faculty investigators and student researchers to plan and complete project activities.

Supervise and Mentor Students

• Assign and review research tasks completed by undergraduate and graduate students.
• Train, supervise, and mentor student employees as they develop technical and professional skills.
• Consult with graduate students whose research relates to the DIPPR 801 project.

Build Partnerships and Support the Project

• Communicate project results and respond to questions from sponsors, industry users, and other stakeholders.
• Prepare reports, proposals, presentations, and other materials that support the project.
• Help manage the project budget, staff, meetings, contracts, and scholarly publications.

What qualifies you for this role:

Required

• A firm commitment to the mission of BYU
• PhD in Chemical Engineering
• Experience in thermodynamic property prediction, extensive knowledge of thermodynamics and an understanding of original research in thermophysical properties

Preferred

• 10 years of experience in thermodynamic property prediction, extensive knowledge of thermodynamics and an understanding of original research in thermophysical properties
• 10 years of experience measuring, correlating and modeling thermophysical property data
