GENERIC SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the immediate supervisor, perform dental imaging procedures, including intraoral radiography, panoramic imaging, cephalometric imaging, and cone beam computed tomography (CBCT). Ensure the production of high-quality diagnostic images and adherence to radiation safety and infection control standards. Support daily clinical operations through equipment maintenance, digital image management, quality assurance activities, and collaboration with clinical instructors and staff.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
(i) Demonstrate various techniques for obtaining intraoral radiographs on manikins and patients.
(ii) Provides instruction and technical assistance to dental students during radiographic procedures
(iii) Monitors radiographs taken by students to assess technical quality and determine whether images are diagnostically acceptable.
(iv) Performs intraoral, panoramic, cephalometric, and CBCT imaging procedures on patients according to established protocols.
(v) Instructs students on panoramic radiographic techniques, including patient positioning and image acquisition procedures.
(vi) Communicates radiographic concerns and errors to the unit Head to ensure appropriate follow-up and improvement.
(vii) Ensures radiographic procedures are performed safely and efficiently while following radiation protection principles.
(viii) Organizes and transfers radiographic images received electronically from external sources into appropriate patient records.
(ix) Communicates with image senders when clarification, additional information, or follow-up is required.
(x) Prepares and distributes radiographic images electronically or on digital media (e.g., CDs) for referrals, consultations, specialist treatment, and insurance approval purposes.
(xi) Performs routine monitoring, maintenance, and basic troubleshooting of dental radiology equipment and imaging systems.
(xii) Communicates equipment issues, including sensor or imaging system concerns, to the Clinic Manager and coordinates follow-up when required.
(xiii) Ensures radiology rooms are clean, organized, and compliant with infection prevention and control standards.
(xiv) Prepares radiology rooms and maintains availability of required supplies, instruments, and protective materials.
