Purpose of the role

To apply software engineering techniques, automation, and best practices in incident response, to ensure the reliability, availability, and scalability of the systems, platforms, and technology through them. 

Accountabilities

• Availability, performance, and scalability of systems and services through proactive monitoring, maintenance, and capacity planning.
• Resolution, analysis and response to system outages and disruptions, and implement measures to prevent similar incidents from recurring.
• Development of tools and scripts to automate operational processes, reducing manual workload, increasing efficiency, and improving system resilience.
• Monitoring and optimisation of system performance and resource usage, identify and address bottlenecks, and implement best practices for performance tuning.
• Collaboration with development teams to integrate best practices for reliability, scalability, and performance into the software development lifecycle, and work closely with other teams to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
• Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations, and actively contribute to the organization's technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Engineer to lead the design, development, and optimization of enterprise-scale data platforms and data products. The role requires strong expertise in Databricks, Snowflake, Spark, cloud-based data engineering, and modern data architectures. The candidate will be responsible for building scalable data pipelines, enabling self-service analytics, driving platform modernization initiatives, and leading a team of data engineers to deliver business-critical data products.

The ideal candidate will have experience working in a large-scale enterprise environment, preferably within Banking, Financial Services, or highly regulated industries.

To be successful as a Data Engineer , you should have experience with:

• Strong experience in Databricks Lakehouse Platform.

• Expert-level knowledge of Apache Spark (PySpark and Spark SQL).

• Strong programming skills in Python.  

• Experience with Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, and Databricks Workflows.

• Strong SQL tuning and performance optimization skills.

• Strong hands-on experience in Python and PySpark-based development

• Solid understanding of Linux environments with scripting expertise

• Experience working with scheduling/orchestration tools such as TWS and Airflow

• Proficient in Git and GitLab for version control and CI/CD workflows

• Good exposure to AWS ecosystem, including Glue, Lambda, S3, Lake Formation, and Athena

Data Engineering Expertise

• ETL/ELT framework development.

• CDC (Change Data Capture) implementations.

• Data Quality frameworks.

• Batch and Real-Time processing.

• Data Governance and Metadata Management.

• Data Lineage and Data Catalog solutions.
