The primary Role of the Cylinder Shop Manager is to plan and prepare schedules for completing the repair of hydraulic cylinders and to manage the workforce to meet this schedule. This position will collaborate with various departments to develop a master schedule and establish lead times of each operation to meet specific customer needs. Excellent organizational skills as well as professional communication with all stakeholders is key the success of this position.
Primary Responsibilities
- Plans and complete master schedule for Hydraulic Cylinder Repairs from start (sales inquiry) to finish (shipping to customer)
- Updates customer through customer chosen line of communication (email, phone, face to face, sales interface)
- Analyzes repair specifications and data and performs calculations to determine material, tools, and human resource requirements for the schedule.
- Plans and schedules workflow for each craft and operation according to previously established client sequences and lead times
- Confers with other managers to establish schedule (machine shop, small cell, pump shop, purchasing, FAB shop)
- Confers with Partner managers to establish and finalize schedule (Quoting Manager and Process Quality Engineer)
- Expedites operations that delay schedules and alters schedules to meet unforeseen conditions.
- Collaborates with all Stakeholders to develop production reports
- Collaborates with the Quoting Manager regarding lists of required materials, tools, and equipment.
- May prepare purchase orders to obtain materials, tools, and equipment.
- Supervises and manages the Workforce to meet schedule, follow procedures, and provide best quality repair in a safe environment
- Ensures that the employees, equipment, and materials needed are scheduled in order to maximize Quality, Productivity, and Profit of the repair orders
- Ensures that the Due Date and or Delivery schedules requested by the customer are met
- Monitors condition of machinery/equipment schedule necessary maintenance /repairs Monitors employees safe work practices and assures the training of employees

- Ability to produce and track a budget and make repair specific budget recommendations
- Create and communicate alignment sheets (project work process and flow) with workforce
- Advanced knowledge of and proficient with MS office products (Excel, Outlook, MS Word)
- Ability to work together with Client and other Contract representatives as part of a group,
- Ability to accurately communicate ideas, instructions, questions, problems, solutions
- Ability to accurately receive questions and ideas
- Ability to direct, problems to appropriate manager and provide guidance to fellow managers for instructions and solutions
- Understanding of the nature and causes of accidents, appreciative of the effects and seriousness of accidents and mitigate hazards presented to, or discovered by the Quality Process Engineer or as reported by any other employee
- Does not have a history of chronic unsafe behavior.
Education and Experience
- Degree or commensurate experience in:
- Knowledge of Dover Hydraulics’ current processes
- Project Planning
- Management of work group
