As our investment research and trading arm, SSM’s number one goal is to enhance and preserve our clients’ portfolio values by applying technology, optimizing trading, and linking asset classes and markets across the world. Join us if making your mark in the capital markets industry from day one is a challenge you are up for.

What you will be responsible for

As a Currency Portfolio Manager, you will:

  • Manage the daily implementation and oversight of currency hedging strategies for assigned institutional clients.
  • Monitor client portfolio exposures relative to current hedge positions and identify required rebalancing activity.
  • Ensure the completeness and accuracy of inbound client data, mandate compliance, portfolio calculations and client reporting.
  • Create and review FX orders, perform pre-trade due diligence and coordinate trade execution in accordance with client mandates.
  • Exercise sound judgment in managing client hedging programs, identifying potential data issues, mandate exceptions and operational risks, and escalating where appropriate.
  • Manage the full portfolio lifecycle, including rebalances and other client-directed or event-driven transactions.
  • Contribute to complex client events, including new client implementations, restructurings, and transitions
  • Perform post-trade review and ensure transactions and portfolio positions have been accurately reflected within Currency Management systems.
  • Monitor portfolio-level risks, including hedge ratios, currency exposures and client-specific mandate requirements.
  • Work closely with the global Currency Management team in Sydney, London and Boston to provide effective global coverage and seamless transition of responsibilities between regions.
  • Partner with trading colleagues on execution strategy, counterparty considerations and transaction-cost analysis where appropriate.
  • Participate in client due diligence meetings, service reviews, new-business presentations and ongoing client inquiries.
  • Contribute to enhancements to portfolio-management processes, controls, technology and monitoring capabilities.
  • Maintain a strong risk and control mindset, ensuring that portfolio-management activities are performed in accordance with established policies, procedures and client requirements.
  • Global Coverage: The role is based in Sydney, Australia and forms part of Currency Management's global portfolio-management coverage alongside colleagues in London and Boston.  The successful candidate must be comfortable managing responsibilities within a global operating model where client portfolios, instructions and issues may transition between regions. Clear communication, disciplined handovers, strong documentation and consistent adherence to portfolio-management controls are therefore critical to the role.
