Great Basin Industrial is looking for a Craft Recruiter to join our team in Kaysville, Utah. This position will focus on identifying, attracting, and hiring skilled craft professionals to support GBI's industrial construction projects.
This is a hands-on recruiting role that goes beyond posting jobs and reviewing applications. The Craft Recruiter will actively source candidates, build relationships within the skilled trades community, and develop talent pipelines for current and future workforce needs. This includes representing GBI at welding schools, construction trade programs, technical schools, career fairs, and recruiting events to introduce prospective candidates to career opportunities with GBI.
The ideal candidate is outgoing, proactive, organized, and comfortable building relationships with everyone from students entering the trades to experienced craft professionals. This position is based in our Kaysville office and requires up to 25% travel for recruiting events, school outreach, and other hiring initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Recruit qualified craft professionals for current and upcoming industrial construction projects.
- Proactively source candidates through Workable, job boards, social media, employee referrals, networking, previous applicants, and other recruiting channels.
- Review applications and conduct initial candidate screenings to assess experience, qualifications, availability, and overall fit.
- Build and maintain talent pipelines for high-demand and frequently hired craft positions.
- Develop relationships with welding schools, construction trade programs, technical schools, and other workforce development partners to create new sources of craft talent.
- Represent GBI at career fairs, trade schools, recruiting events, and other industry or community events to promote career opportunities and connect with prospective employees.
- Travel as needed to support recruiting initiatives, workforce needs, school partnerships, hiring events, and other talent acquisition efforts.
- Build relationships with prospective candidates and maintain ongoing communication with qualified craft professionals.
- Partner closely with project teams, operations, and HR to understand current and upcoming workforce needs and recruiting priorities.
- Coordinate interviews, offers, pre-employment requirements, and other hiring activities as needed.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date candidate records and recruiting activity in Workable.
- Re-engage previous applicants and employees who may be qualified for new opportunities.
- Support employee referral programs and other initiatives designed to attract qualified craft professionals.
- Identify and develop new sourcing strategies and recruiting partnerships in the markets where GBI operates.
- Represent Great Basin Industrial professionally and provide a positive candidate experience throughout the recruiting and hiring process.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Previous experience in recruiting, staffing, talent acquisition, human resources, or a related field.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to connect and build relationships with a wide range of candidates.
- Comfortable proactively reaching out to prospective candidates by phone, text, email, social media, and other communication channels.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple open positions and candidate pipelines simultaneously.
- Self-motivated and comfortable taking initiative to identify new candidates, recruiting channels, and talent sources.
- Ability to represent GBI professionally when interacting with candidates, schools, community partners, and other external organizations.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment where project schedules, workforce needs, and hiring priorities may change quickly.
- Comfortable learning and using applicant tracking systems, job boards, social media, and other recruiting technology.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general computer applications.
- Ability to work full-time from our Kaysville, Utah office.
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 25% for recruiting events, school visits, career fairs, project hiring needs, and other recruiting activities.
Preferred Skills
- Experience recruiting skilled trades, craft professionals, or other field-based employees.
- Recruiting or staffing experience within industrial construction, construction, manufacturing, or a related industry.
- Familiarity with industrial craft positions, qualifications, and construction terminology.
- Experience sourcing candidates in competitive or high-volume labor markets.
- Experience building talent pipelines for recurring or hard-to-fill craft positions.
- Experience developing relationships with trade schools, technical programs, workforce development organizations, or other community partners.
- Experience attending or coordinating career fairs, hiring events, school visits, or other recruiting outreach activities.
- Experience with Workable or a similar applicant tracking system.
- Strong networking and relationship-building skills.
- Experience using social media, job boards, resume databases, and other sourcing tools to identify passive candidates.
- Ability to effectively communicate GBI's career opportunities and employee value proposition to prospective candidates.
