Job Description

JOB TITLE: Counterparty Credit Risk Implementation Lead (FTC)
LOCATION(S): London
HOURS: Full-time
WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at one of our office sites.

Join the Traded Risk Evolution and Calculation team as Counterparty Credit Risk Implementation SME Lead. You’ll act as the principal subject-matter expert and primary point of contact for a strategically important enhancement to the Group’s counterparty credit risk capabilities. You’ll interpret complex regulatory and technical requirements, establish clear risk positions and guide teams in translating them into robust models, data, processes, controls and technology outcomes.

About this opportunity

This is an opportunity to become the recognised counterparty credit risk lead for a strategically important change within Financial Risk, shaping how risk is measured, handled and governed.

You’ll provide authoritative subject-matter leadership across regulatory interpretation, exposure measurement, modelling, data, controls and front-to-back risk processes. Working closely with Risk, Finance, Technology, Transformation and business teams, you’ll resolve complex questions, set implementation direction, challenge proposed solutions and ensure outcomes are technically sound, consistent and aligned with regulatory expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the principal counterparty credit risk subject-matter expert and first point of contact for technical, regulatory and implementation matters

  • Interpret regulatory requirements and establish clear, practical positions for their application across risk methodologies, models, data, systems, processes and controls

  • Set the technical direction for implementation, defining expected outcomes, key design principles and acceptance criteria

  • Provide effective review and challenge of proposed solutions, identifying gaps, inconsistencies and unintended risk consequences

  • Resolve complex counterparty credit risk questions and provide clear, evidence-based recommendations to senior collaborators and governance forums

  • Connect specialists across Risk, Finance, Technology, Data and the business, ensuring decisions reflect a coherent front-to-back risk view

  • Lead the development of high-quality technical documentation, regulatory evidence, policies, standards and implementation guidance

  • Build counterparty credit risk capability across the organisation through coaching, knowledge sharing and effective engagement with senior and non-technical audiences

Why join us?

We’re transforming at pace. Investing billions in our people, data and tech to change the way we meet the needs of our 28 million customers. We’re growing, and we’d love you to be part of the journey.

What you’ll need:

  • Deep counterparty credit risk expertise, including exposure measurement, risk drivers, modelling concepts, traded products and the associated prudential framework

  • Proven experience acting as a senior subject-matter expert on complex counterparty credit risk, model, regulatory or risk-transformation initiatives

  • Strong ability to interpret complex requirements, form defensible technical judgements and translate them into practical implementation guidance

  • Credibility to provide constructive challenge, influence senior collaborators and represent counterparty credit risk matters in governance forums

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex risk concepts clearly to technical and non-technical audiences

  • A strong understanding of the interaction between risk methodologies, models, data, technology, controls and front-to-back operating processes

  • Strong understanding of key CCR exposure and capital models such as PFE, IMM, SACCR and desirable if knowledge of XVA pricing

  • Good understanding of Traded Products

And any experience of these would be really useful:

  • Experience shaping the technical interpretation and implementation of a significant counterparty credit risk or material model change

  • Detailed understanding of counterparty credit risk models, regulatory permissions, model governance and supervisory expectations

  • Experience supporting regulatory submissions, remediation activity or direct engagement with regulators and independent assurance teams

  • Familiarity with the data and technology architecture supporting counterparty credit risk measurement and management

We know that great talent comes from many backgrounds. Whilst this job advert may reference specific years of experience, we recognise that skills are developed in many ways, so if you have relevant, transferable experience, we encourage you to apply.
