SUMMARY

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
•    Installation, preventive maintenance, and repair of electrical and mechanical systems with an emphasis on automated baggage conveyors and passenger loading bridge systems, including specific tasks such as changing motors, bearings, gearbox reducers, and loading bridge tire repairs. 
•    Advanced Industrial electrical installation and troubleshooting, including 277/480V 3-phase, 120/208 3-phase,110 VAC, and 24VDC systems 
•    Advanced troubleshooting of PLCs, Motor Controls including Motor Starters, Variable Frequency, AC/DC Drives, Network Systems, and HMI’s. 
•    Maintenance and repair of Ground Power Units which provide power to aircraft while docked to the Loading Bridge 
•    General building maintenance work, including manual labor, incidental to above duties or necessary to keep buildings in working order. 
•    Compile lists of equipment, tools and supplies needed. Track and order parts to maintain inventory. 
•    Operate cars, vans, lifts, bucket trucks and other heavy equipment. 
•    Extensive knowledge of other airport systems including electrical, plumbing, generators, emergency systems, aircraft fueling systems and electrical vehicle chargers. 
•    Work in close proximity to aircraft while performing repair and maintenance to passenger boarding bridges and associated ground support equipment. 
•    Subject to emergency call back for equipment repairs and inclement weather. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Required Education and Experience
•    High School diploma (or GED equivalent)
•    Five years of related experience
•    Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities.

Required Licenses or Certifications
•    North Carolina State Electrical License and
•    PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) experience and/or
•    Automated electrical/electronic control experience

COMPETENCIES FOR SUCCESSFUL PERFORMANCE OF JOB DUTIES:
Knowledge of: 
•    Thorough knowledge of electrical/mechanical systems such as motors, gearboxes, conveyors, electrical controls (start-stop stations and relay logic controls). 
•    Advanced knowledge of Industrial electrical installations and troubleshooting, including 277/480V 3-phase, 120/208 3-phase,110 VAC, and 24VDC systems 
•    Advanced knowledge of PLCs, Motor Controls including Motor Starters, Variable Frequency, AC/DC Drives, Network Systems, and HMI’s. 
Skill in:·        
•    Skills to perform journey level work on electrical/mechanical systems.
•    Skills to read and write sufficiently to complete paperwork and read schematic designs and blueprints.
•    Interpersonal skills necessary to develop and maintain effective and appropriate working relationships
•    Performing a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature
•    Skills to calculate cost estimates and measure items.

Ability to:·         
•    Ability to maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, tenants and the public, and represent the airport in a professional and positive manner.
•    Ability to provide direction and train other employees.·         
•    Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Complete computer based Work Orders and notes   

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS         
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
•    Spends about 70% of the time standing, bending, reaching, walking and driving. The rest of the time includes a combination of sitting, twisting, keeling, squatting, crawling, lifting, shoveling and carrying. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50lbs. About 5% of time can lift, pull or carry up to 100 lbs a short distance, with another person.
•    Works inside and outside. May include exposure to machinery, dust, chemicals, fumes, solvents, moving objects/vehicles, scaffolding, ladders, vibrating tools, excessive noise, large crowds and slippery or uneven surfaces. Uses a variety of electrical and hand tools.

ADA and Other Requirements
Positions in this class typically require grasping, stooping, squatting, kneeling, crouching, reaching, pushing, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.  

Physical Requirements:
•    Essential and marginal functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for sitting, standing, climbing, or walking extended periods of time
•    Moderate to Heavy lifting and carrying; regular crouching, stooping, squatting, crawling, reaching, pushing, and pulling when performing tasks
•    Adequate vision, hearing, and speech required 

Sensory Requirements:
•    Concentrated and attentive use of one or more senses (touch, visual, audio, and other sensory modalities) for mechanical work
•    Ability to operate in an environment with frequent interruptions from people and or noises, which in return could result in some level of stress, fatigue, or strain
•    Comprehensive of written information in work related documents
•    Ability to hear, understand and distinguish speech.

General Information:
•    Standard shift hours apply.  Hours subject to change and overtime.  Works assigned shift, subject to emergency call back to work during emergencies, urgent situations, special events and inclement weather.
•    Valid driver’s license with no more than 6 points and the ability to obtain and maintain a City driving permit.
•    Certain criminal convictions will disqualify individuals from unescorted access privileges and therefore exclude from employment.
