Leidos is seeking an experienced Contractor Program Security Officer (CPSO) to join our Security team in Huntsville, Alabama. This position will provide security leadership and oversight for classified programs supporting Department of Defense (DoD) and U.S. Government customers.

The CPSO will be responsible for the implementation, administration, and day-to-day execution of program security requirements while partnering closely with program leadership, security professionals, and government customers to ensure compliance and enable successful program execution.

The successful candidate will be a self-motivated and experienced security professional capable of operating independently in a dynamic environment. This position requires sound judgment, strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to translate government and company security requirements into practical solutions that protect classified information while supporting mission and business objectives.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Contractor Program Security Officer (CPSO) for assigned classified programs, including Special Access Programs (SAPs), and provide security leadership, guidance, and oversight to program personnel.
  • Implement and administer program security requirements in accordance with 32 CFR Part 117 (NISPOM), DoDM 5205.07 Volumes 1–4, applicable Intelligence Community Directives (ICDs), the Joint Special Access Program Implementation Guide (JSIG), DD Form 254 requirements, Security Classification Guides (SCGs), and customer-specific security direction.
  • Serve as a primary security interface with program leadership and government security representatives to ensure security requirements are understood, appropriately implemented, and integrated into program execution.
  • Administer day-to-day program security activities, including personnel security, physical security, information protection, access management, visit certifications, classified material accountability, and security education and awareness.
  • Manage personnel access requirements, including nominations, briefings, debriefings, access certifications, and maintenance of required program security records.
  • Maintain classified document and material accountability processes, including the receipt, transmission, reproduction, storage, destruction, and disposition of classified information and material.
  • Conduct security self-inspections and internal reviews, identify security risks and areas of noncompliance, and develop and implement appropriate corrective actions.
  • Lead preparation for and support government security assessments, inspections, and program reviews while maintaining a continuous state of inspection readiness.
  • Manage security incidents, violations, and inquiries, including appropriate investigation, documentation, reporting, corrective action, and coordination with Leidos and government security leadership.
  • Apply risk-management principles to program operations and develop practical security solutions that appropriately protect classified information while enabling mission execution.
  • Interpret government, contractual, and Leidos security requirements and provide clear and consistent guidance to program leadership and personnel.
  • Exercise independent judgment and make timely security decisions concerning assigned programs, escalating significant risks and issues to security and program leadership as appropriate.
  • Partner with program management, engineering, operations, facilities, information technology, and other functional organizations to integrate security requirements throughout program execution.
  • Develop and deliver program-specific security education, training, and awareness.
  • Foster a proactive security culture built on accountability, partnership, compliance, and protection of national security information.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and 8+ years of relevant industrial or program security experience. Additional relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience supporting classified U.S. Government programs, preferably within a DoD environment.
  • Experience administering or supporting Special Access Program security requirements.
  • Working knowledge of applicable DoD industrial and program security requirements, including NISPOM and SAP security requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret government, contractual, and company security requirements and effectively apply them to program operations.
  • Experience with personnel security, physical security, information protection, classified material accountability, and administrative security functions.
  • Experience preparing for and supporting government security inspections, assessments, or program reviews.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively engage program leadership, employees, security professionals, and government customers.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and exercise sound security judgment with minimal supervision.
  • Strong customer-service orientation with the ability to balance security requirements with program and operational objectives.
  • Must possess an active Top Secret security clearance and meet eligibility requirements for Special Access Program and/or Sensitive Compartmented Information access, as required.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must reside in or be willing to relocate to the Huntsville/North Alabama area.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience serving as a CPSO, ACPSO, FSO, AFSO, or comparable program security professional.
  • Experience providing security leadership for DoD Special Access Programs.
  • Working knowledge of DoDM 5205.07, JSIG, DD Form 254 requirements, and Security Classification Guides.
  • Experience interfacing directly with government Program Security Officers (PSOs) and other government security representatives.
  • Experience leading security self-inspections, inquiries, risk assessments, corrective actions, and government inspection preparation.
  • Experience administering classified information and material accountability programs.
  • Completion of Introduction to Special Access Programs (SAPs), SA101.01, is preferred. If not previously completed, the selected candidate will be expected to successfully complete the course within six months of employment.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish trusted relationships with program leadership, government customers, and cross-functional partners while maintaining strong security standards.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $82,550.00 - $149,225.00
