The Consultative Medical Coder provides medical coding expertise to support clinical staff (Physicians and Advanced Practice Providers) to ensure the documentation within medical records supports diagnostic and procedural coding. This is a predominantly remote position, but you must live in the Las Vegas area and be able to travel to assigned clinics on an as-needed basis, which equates to approximately one week per month. You will report to the Manager, Medical Coding.

Responsibilities:

• You will cultivate relationships with clinicians to serve as the single contact for questions and issues relating to documentation and coding.
• You will identify documentation improvement areas and partner with clinical and coding education to deliver education related to improvement opportunities.
• You will perform Quality Assurance on post-visit reviews.
• You will manage the special handling of Mergers & Acquisitions by performing problem list cleanup and conducting process training on documentation requirements.
• You will collaborate with HEDIS leaders and champions to identify HEDIS gaps and deficiencies.

Required Qualifications:

• 3+ years of technical Medical Coding experience or similar (including IPA and Offshore coding management).
• RHIA, RHIT, CCS, or CPC Certification.
• Must reside in the Las Vegas, NV area.
• Ability to travel a minimum of 1 week/month to assigned clinics.
• Proficient in MS Office Suite and Zoom/Teams.
• Must be comfortable presenting on camera and with public speaking.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Optum Encoder or AthenaOne EMR.
• Certified Risk Adjustment Coder (CRC) or Certified Documentation Expert Outpatient (CDEO).

Travel: While this is a remote position, occasional travel to Humana's offices for training or meetings may be required.

Pay Range

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.

 

$59,300 - $80,900 per year

 

This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
