As a member of the Composite Team, the Composite Analyst partners closely with Product Management, Performance, and Client Reporting Services to support the oversight, governance, and maintenance of the Firm’s composites. Given the critical role composites play within the Firm’s regulatory, client reporting, and marketing framework, maintaining a strong control environment and ensuring adherence to the GIPS standards are core responsibilities of the team.
The Composite Team serves as the Firm’s subject matter expert and consultative resource on the interpretation and application of the GIPS standards. This includes providing guidance on composite construction and membership, GIPS Composite Report content and disclosures, investment discretion, client guideline changes, benchmark changes, and other complex composite-related matters.
The Composite Analyst will be a member of the firm’s Composite Working Group, which is responsible for reviewing and approving all composite related requests, evaluating complex or emerging issues, and establishing firmwide policies and standards related to composite construction, GIPS Composite Report content, and composite oversight. Success in this role requires developing an understanding of the investment strategies offered by the Firm.
Job Responsibilities
• Develop and maintain deep expertise in the Global Investment Performance Standards (GIPS®), including CFA Institute Guidance Statements, Q&A publications, and industry best practices. Evaluate, interpret, and implement changes to the standards and provide recommendations regarding the Firm’s GIPS policies, procedures, and control framework.
• Create, maintain, and oversee the Firm’s GIPS Composite Reports, including conducting periodic side-by- side reviews with Product Management and implementing updates resulting from Composite Working Group decisions, regulatory developments, and product changes.
• Develop an understanding of the Firm’s investment products and strategies to effectively partner with Product Management on matters related to composite performance, construction, benchmark selection, disclosures, and reporting requirements. Provide guidance on practical solutions that align with the GIPS standards.
• Actively participate in the monthly Composite Working Group by preparing and presenting materials for review, facilitating discussions, raising thoughtful questions, assessing risks and implications, delivering recommendations, and implementing approved decisions.
• Oversee composite construction and membership integrity, including maintaining composite descriptions, benchmark assignments and disclosures, reviewing non-discretionary accounts, monitoring account openings and closures, and evaluating the impact of client guideline changes and other portfolio specific events on
composite membership.
• Establish, maintain, and enhance policies, procedures, and controls related to composite governance and oversight. Identify opportunities to improve workflows, strengthen operational controls, enhance infrastructure, and increase collaboration and communication across Product Management and other key stakeholder groups.
• Serve as a subject matter expert and trusted resource on complex composite matters, providing guidance to Product Management and other business partners on the interpretation and application of the GIPS standards.
Job Qualifications
• Ability to interpret the GIPS standards by drawing on practical experience and provide guidance for composite construction, investment discretion, risk disclosures and benchmark appropriateness; demonstrated knowledge of GIPS Composite Reports and industry practice.
• Ability to balance and prioritize multiple tactical and strategic goals in a fast-paced environment; comfortable with changing priorities based on business demand.
• Demonstrated analytical skills and investment curiosity; the ability to draw out and understand the key differences of various investment approaches; ensure these key differences are reflected in GIPS Composite Reports.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information objectively, facilitate constructive discussion, and provide clear recommendations supported by thoughtful analysis.
• Collaborative mindset and a desire to work across functional teams to strengthen the Firm’s composite governance framework, enhance controls, and improve communication around composite membership and
oversight.
• Strong attention to detail, intellectual curiosity, and a commitment to delivering high-quality work. Ability to quickly learn new systems and technologies and communicate complex information clearly, concisely, and effectively.
• Knowledge of equity, fixed income, multi-asset, and alternative investment strategies is preferred.
• Strong academic credentials; CFA and/or CIPM preferred
• Two or more years of relevant experience in investment performance measurement, GIPS compliance, product management, investment operations, performance reporting, or a related field preferred
