YOUR MISSION
The Communications Coordinator will be responsible for supporting PR and Social Media strategies to include public relations, promotions and online presence for each of the Resident Shows to expand brand story across all social media and traditional media platforms with the ultimate goal of engagement, as well as awareness to drive occupancy and ticket revenue. This position will manage and execute the respective PR, social strategy efforts and brand reputation management processes by working directly with their counterparts in a wide variety of internal groups within the Resident Shows while ensuring that the Cirque du Soleil brand and its sub-brands are respected.
- Respond to general media and internal requests, traffic information flow and coordinate PR materials and interviews;
- Help manage the external agency responsible for publishing content, monitoring, and community engagement across the social platforms (Facebook, Instagram, X, TikTok, etc.) Resident Shows. Work in partnership with Cirque IHQ to keep the show’s social presence and reputation aligned with business goals and guest service objectives.
- Assist in planning, coordinating and implementing press conferences, briefings, media and special events;
- Assist in the development of press releases, advisories and other PR materials;
- Assist in the logistical coordination and staffing of photo shoots, celebrity visits and media relations activities as needed;
- Vet incoming media opportunities; research media outlet/contact for legitimacy and provide appropriate recommendation to PR Manager;
- Assist in the development of story ideas; pitch and achieve editorial placements;
- Assist in content development for social media platforms;
- Manage image library for all shows;
- Manage the press room content and website updates for all Resident productions;
- Create and maintain media contact databases for local contacts, feeder markets media, national media and international media;
- Create and manage celebrity and VIP lists;
- Liaise with PR firm to evaluate reports, ensure tracking is complete and copies received. Distribute weekly clipping report internally;
- Coordinate updates of all press materials including press kits, b-roll and photos for all resident shows;
- Assist with the logistics of meetings, events and presentations;
- Coordinate and book travel for out-of-town events;
- Organize and maintain PR tools, PR materials, shared drive files and archives;
- Provide administrative and finance support to the PR Department;
- Support show launch activities and logistics;
- All other duties as assigned by the Senior Communications & PR Manager, Resident Shows.
YOUR UNIQUE EXPERTISE
- At least two to three years of previous experience in Public Relations, Social Media, Marketing or Entertainment environment;
- Bachelor's degree in communications an asset.
- Previous experience and working knowledge of managing and working in a social command center;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Fluency in spoken and written English. Any additional language an asset
- Very good knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite, particularly Word and PowerPoint.
- Flexibility and good organizational skills.
- Availability, punctuality, and ability to work under pressure,
- Knowledge of local, regional and national media;
- Ability to manage priorities and work as part of a team, Initiative, discretion, autonomy, organizational skills, and diplomacy,
- Must be willing and able to work early mornings, evening and weekends;
- Ability to travel as required.
- Verification of the right to work in the United States for Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group, as demonstrated by completion of the Form I-9 upon hire and submission of acceptable documentation verifying identity and work authorization.
