Summary of the Role
The Commercial Operation Excellence Specialist provides managerial-level leadership for strategy, governance, performance, and continuous improvement of commercial operations.
The role translates Terumo Thailand and organizational priorities into an integrated medium- to long-term operational excellence roadmap, policy and process frameworks, performance strategies, budgets, and cross-functional improvement portfolios that strengthen service, quality, compliance, productivity, scalability, resource utilization, and cost effectiveness.
It serves as a subject matter authority and trusted advisor to management, leading stakeholder engagement across functions and with external partners, presenting evidence-based recommendations, and aligning decision-makers on priorities, investments, risks, and required actions.
The role oversees the effectiveness of internal operations and third-party and fourth-party logistics providers through clear governance, controlled policies and procedures, performance measures, financial stewardship, audit readiness, and corrective actions.
It also leads the commercial operations project management office and enterprise-level transformation initiatives, applying data, automation, digitalization, structured problem solving, and change management to deliver measurable benefits and sustain improved ways of working.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic leadership, recommendations, and stakeholder management
- Translate Terumo Thailand commercial and organizational priorities into a medium- to long-term commercial operations excellence roadmap, integrated improvement strategies, and actionable recommendations for management decision-making.
- Identify and manage stakeholders across functions and up to top management level; assess their needs, issues, and concerns, and lead engagement plans that support alignment, transparent communication, timely decisions, and sustained change adoption.
- Build cross-functional sponsorship and resolve competing priorities across Commercial, Planning, Customer Service, Supply Chain Operations, Service Engineering, Quality and Regulatory Affairs, Finance, and external partners to deliver shared business outcomes.
2. Policy management, governance, compliance, and audit readiness
- Own the commercial operations policy and process framework by developing, reviewing, approving, communicating, implementing, and periodically updating policies, standards, procedures, controls, and governance requirements within the area of responsibility.
- Ensure policies and procedures remain aligned with organizational strategy, business objectives, applicable regulations, internal controls, and Terumo requirements; monitor adherence and address gaps through corrective and preventive actions.
- Establish a controlled document lifecycle, deliver stakeholder training, conduct self-audits, and coordinate internal and external audits, including evidence preparation, issue resolution, and closure tracking.
3. Performance strategy, accountability, and solution effectiveness
- Design and implement a comprehensive commercial operations performance measurement strategy, including objectives, definitions, data ownership, calculation methods, targets, reporting cadence, and governance for operational and cost performance.
- Monitor and report performance for the area of responsibility, validate measures with key stakeholders, identify limitations and root causes, and lead corrective actions that improve solution value and support annual business objectives.
- Apply equivalent performance governance to third-party and fourth-party logistics providers, using agreed service and cost measures to assess delivery, compliance, risk, and improvement priorities.
4. Budgeting and financial stewardship
- Lead the analysis, preparation, proposal, tracking, forecasting, and management of commercial operations excellence budgets, ensuring expenditure and investment priorities align with TTC strategy and approved business plans.
- Evaluate the financial impact, expected benefits, resource requirements, and return of improvement initiatives; monitor actual spending and benefits realization, explain variances, and recommend corrective actions or reprioritization.
- Partner with Finance and budget owners to strengthen cost transparency, control operating expenses, improve resource utilization, and identify sustainable margin and productivity opportunities.
5. Operational excellence, innovation, and process improvement
- Lead enterprise-level reviews of existing operations and implement continuous improvement and innovation initiatives across the function to deliver measurable quality, service, cost, compliance, and productivity outcomes.
- Lead process standardization, automation, digitalization, system enhancements, and interface improvements to strengthen scalability, data quality, controls, and user experience.
- Develop business-supported proposals and implementation plans, applying structured problem solving, process analysis, and change management to embed and sustain improvements.
6. Project management office and change delivery
- Lead the commercial operations project management office, governing the full portfolio and project lifecycle from prioritization and planning through execution, risk and issue management, stakeholder reporting, benefit tracking, and closure.
- Coordinate strategic and operational projects covering processes, systems, organization effectiveness, partner performance, compliance, cost, business support, and margin improvement.
- Establish clear ownership, milestones, decision rights, escalation paths, and change adoption plans, and hold project contributors accountable for agreed deliverables.

Functional / Technical Skills
- Policy and procedure leadership: Operate as the subject matter authority for interpreting, developing, monitoring, and aligning policies and procedures with TTC strategy, operating objectives, internal controls, and compliance requirements.
- Strategic stakeholder communication: Formulate and communicate plans, policies, recommendations, and required actions clearly and confidently to top management, cross-functional teams, and external partners.
- Executive solution presentation: Present complex issues, options, benefits, risks, and recommended solutions in a compelling, audience-specific manner that enables timely decisions and commitment to action.
- Solution performance measurement: Define and validate measures with key stakeholders, assess solution performance and limitations, and recommend actions that increase business value.
- Budget and financial management: Prepare, analyze, forecast, track, and control budgets; assess business cases, cost-benefit outcomes, financial variances, and benefits realization.
- Performance improvement leadership: Assess end-to-end process and operating performance, identify strategic improvement priorities, and govern delivery of measurable and sustainable outcomes.
- Strong knowledge of operational governance, internal controls, performance management, key performance indicators, and responsibility assignment frameworks.
- Hands-on capability in process mapping, standard operating procedure development, process optimization, Lean Six Sigma methods, root-cause analysis, and corrective-action management.
- Advanced analytical capability using Microsoft Excel, Process mapping tools, AI and Power BI, including data consolidation, validation, visualization, trend analysis, and management reporting.
- Working knowledge of SAP S/4HANA or a comparable enterprise resource planning system, particularly order-to-cash, materials management, sales and distribution, inventory, and operational reporting.
- Practical project management and project management office skills, including planning, governance, risk and issue management, stakeholder coordination, and benefit tracking.
- Knowledge of 3PL and 4PL logistics operation model, performance management, service measures, cost analysis, and vendor governance.
- Excellent analytical, organization, communication, facilitation, change management, and cross-functional collaboration skills
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, logistics, industrial engineering, operations management, business administration, finance, accounting, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 to 15 years of relevant experience in operational excellence, order-to-cash, supply chain, logistics, warehousing, commercial operations, or a related function.
- Demonstrated experience in process improvement, operational performance management, data analysis, and cross-functional project delivery.
- Hands-on experience with SAP S/4HANA or an equivalent enterprise resource planning system, including operational reporting and data validation.
- Experience in a regulated industry, such as medical devices, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, fast-moving consumer goods, or a comparable control-focused environment, is preferred.
- Project management certification, such as PMP, or formal project management training is preferred.
- Certification in continuous improvement, supply chain, or quality management, such as Lean Six Sigma, CSCP, or SSGI-CPIS, is an advantage.
