About ALS Coal

ALS Coal Technology is seeking a full-time and casual Coal Quality Tester to join its Team at Riverview. This is an entry-level position with the potential for long-term employment for the right candidate. The team focuses on the evaluation of metallurgical and thermal coal, utilizing advanced equipment like pilot/small-scale coke ovens and a Boiler Simulator Furnace.

Operational Hours: This role operates Monday to Friday across two rotating shifts: 6:00am–2:00pm and 10:00am–6:00pm.

Day to Day

• Safely handle and process large coal and coke samples.

• Load/unload material from ovens operating at high temperatures

• Perform physical testing (crushing, sizing, dividing).

• Record and transfer validated test results into systems.

• General site duties and safety incident reporting.

Skills and Attributes

• No prior experience required; full training provided.

• Strong focus on safety, quality, and teamwork.

• Solid numeracy, literacy, and basic computer skills.

• Physically fit; capable of repetitive manual handling in a dusty and hot environment.

• Willingness to learn, wear protective equipment, and meet production deadlines.
