The Manufacturing Engineer Co-op will join the Manufacturing Engineering team and support initiatives that improve manufacturing processes, product quality, operational efficiency, and documentation compliance. Working alongside Manufacturing, Quality, Operations, and R&D teams, the intern will gain hands-on experience in a dynamic manufacturing environment while contributing to meaningful engineering projects.
This role offers exposure to process improvement, engineering investigations, validation, technical documentation, and manufacturing operations. The intern will apply engineering fundamentals to real-world challenges while developing technical, analytical, and professional skills through mentorship and project-based learning. This position is 100% onsite in Irvine.

Working alongside Manufacturing, Quality, Operations, and R&D teams, the intern will gain hands-on experience in a dynamic manufacturing environment while contributing to meaningful engineering projects.

This role offers exposure to process improvement, engineering investigations, validation, technical documentation, and manufacturing operations. This position is 100% onsite in Irvine.

Responsibilities:

• Support validation activities, process studies, and engineering experiments by gathering data, documenting results, and preparing summaries.
• Observe manufacturing operations and identify opportunities to enhance safety, quality, efficiency, and standardization through data-driven recommendations.
• Draft, review, and update manufacturing protocols, reports, work instructions, and standard operating procedures including data collection, analysis, and documentation of findings
• Support manufacturing engineering projects focused on process optimization, yield improvement, cost reduction, and operational efficiency.
• Collect, organize, analyze, and present manufacturing and quality data to support engineering decisions and project objectives.
• Use SolidWorks to create/update designs

Education and Experience:

Minimum Requirements:

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field
• Availability for Spring Co-op (January 11 – June 30, 2027)
• Full-time (40 hours per week, Monday through Friday)
• Minimum sophomore standing with plans to return to an accredited degree program following the internship/co-op.

Preferred Skills and Competencies:

• Sophomore, junior or senior standing with plans to return to an accredited degree program following the internship.
• Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and engineering principles
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with technical documentation is a plus
• Proficient with SolidWorks: create parts (Sketch, Features), create assemblies, create drawings
• Coursework or project experience related to manufacturing processes, mechanical design, quality engineering, industrial engineering, statistics, or process improvement.
• Familiarity with data analysis tools such as Microsoft Excel, Minitab, JMP, or similar tools.
• Exposure to engineering documentation, laboratory testing, manufacturing environments, or technical report writing.
• Basic understanding of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Root Cause Analysis, or continuous improvement concepts.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical information clearly.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently while contributing within a collaborative team environment.
• Demonstrated curiosity, initiative, and eagerness to learn in a fast-paced engineering

Additional Information:

Compensation & Benefits: For U.S.-based positions only, the annual base salary range for this role is $25.00 - $34.00 This position may also be eligible for incentive compensation.
