Job Summary

We’re offering a generous sign-on bonus of $5,000 to eligible candidates who join our team. Recognizing and valuing exceptional talent, we’re excited to discuss the details of this bonus during the interview process.

Starting rate is $28.32/hour. Hourly pay is based on experience, education, and certifications, plus additional differentials, premiums, and incentives where applicable.

Summary

The Clinical Laboratory Technologist (CLT) is responsible for the management, maintenance, monitoring, and documentation of laboratory equipment used throughout the Blood Bank and Transfusion Medicine laboratory. This role ensures that all laboratory equipment is maintained in accordance with regulatory, accreditation, manufacturer, and institutional requirements to support safe, accurate, and efficient laboratory operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Equipment Management
-Serve as the department's primary resource for equipment management and maintenance activities.
-Oversee the inventory, functionality, and lifecycle management of all laboratory equipment, including but not limited to:
-Blood product storage equipment (refrigerators, freezers, platelet incubators, and agitators)
-Testing and analytical instrumentation
o Component manufacturing and processing equipment
o Irradiation, thawing, and transport equipment
o Temperature monitoring and alarm systems
-Maintain an accurate and up-to-date equipment inventory and equipment management database.
-Ensure all equipment records, service documentation, and maintenance logs are current, complete, and readily available for inspection.

Preventive Maintenance and Repairs
-Perform, coordinate, and document routine preventive maintenance activities according to manufacturer specifications and laboratory policies.
-Troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate repairs with internal departments, biomedical engineering, facilities, and external vendors.
-Monitor equipment performance and identify opportunities for preventative actions to minimize downtime.
-Verify proper equipment operation following maintenance, repairs, upgrades, or service activities.

Documentation and Compliance
-Maintain active and current maintenance logs for all laboratory equipment.
-Ensure required calibration, temperature checks, quality control, and maintenance activities are completed and documented according to established schedules.
-Review equipment records regularly to ensure compliance with CAP, AABB, FDA, Joint Commission, CLIA, and organizational requirements.
-Participate in audits, inspections, and accreditation activities related to equipment management.

Equipment Qualification and Validation
-Assist with installation, qualification, validation, and implementation of new equipment and systems.
-Develop and maintain equipment procedures, work instructions, and competency materials.
-Participate in equipment performance evaluations and validation studies.

Training and Support
-Train laboratory personnel on the proper operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment.
-Provide technical support and guidance regarding equipment-related issues.
-Assist in developing and maintaining departmental equipment management policies and procedures.

Education
Bachelor's Degree Laboratory Sciences required or Bachelor's Degree Other required

- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Must have the ability to pay careful attention to detail and to adhere to written protocols, including communication with supervisors when issues are identified.
- Must be able to perform as a team member.
- Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to interact professionally and effectively with numerous staff including physicians, hospital personnel, employees, and patients.
