About the Role

The Department of Medicine at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center invites applications for a senior faculty leadership opportunity in Genitourinary (GU) Medical Oncology. This role offers the opportunity to serve as Clinical Chief of GU Medical Oncology while contributing as a key member of the Genitourinary Oncology Research Center (GU-ORC) within an NCI-Designated Comprehensive Cancer Center nationally recognized for innovation in cancer research and care.

We are seeking a visionary and collaborative physician leader at the Associate Professor or Professor level who is passionate about advancing translational research, expanding clinical trial access, and shaping the future of GU oncology care. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in defining the clinical and scientific direction of the division while mentoring faculty, strengthening interdisciplinary collaboration, and elevating Roswell Park’s national presence in GU oncology.

What You’ll Do

• Provide strategic leadership for all clinical activities within Genitourinary Medical Oncology
• Oversee recruitment, mentorship, and supervision of GU Medical Oncology faculty and service attendings
• Develop and implement innovative clinical pathways and models of care across inpatient and outpatient settings
• Collaborate closely with GU Surgery and multidisciplinary oncology teams to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care
• Advance the division’s clinical and scientific strategy with a strong emphasis on translational and clinical research
• Lead initiatives aimed at enhancing accrual of GU oncology patients to clinical trials and expanding program growth and visibility
• Contribute actively to the Genitourinary Oncology Research Center (GU-ORC) and foster meaningful interdisciplinary collaboration
• Support the development of novel research initiatives focused on GU cancer biology, treatment resistance, immunology, precision oncology, and survivorship
• Mentor faculty, fellows, trainees, and emerging physician-scientists within a dynamic academic environment
• Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, collaboration, and excellence aligned with High Reliability Organization principles

About the Department

The Genitourinary Oncology Program at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center is nationally recognized for its multidisciplinary approach to GU cancer care, translational research, and clinical trial innovation. Faculty collaborate across medical oncology, surgery, radiation oncology, pathology, immunology, genomics, and population sciences to advance the understanding and treatment of GU malignancies.

The Genitourinary Oncology Research Center (GU-ORC) includes more than 30 multidisciplinary faculty focused on the cellular, genetic, epigenetic, metabolic, immunologic, ancestral, and behavioral drivers of GU cancer development, progression, and therapy resistance. What You’ll Bring

• MD, DO, or equivalent degree with board certification in Medical Oncology
• Academic accomplishments consistent with appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor level
• Demonstrated leadership experience within an academic medical or cancer center environment
• Expertise in Genitourinary Medical Oncology with a strong commitment to advancing clinical and translational research
• A track record of scholarly achievement, clinical trial leadership, and multidisciplinary collaboration
• Experience mentoring faculty, fellows, trainees, and interdisciplinary teams
• The ability to develop strategic clinical and scientific priorities that drive programmatic growth and innovation

Qualifications:

Required Education and Experience

License or Certification Requirement
1. License or permit to practice as a Medical Doctor in the State of New York.
2. Possession of or eligibility for a valid medical specialty certificate in Medical Oncology or a specialty of Hematologic Oncology, Bone Marrow Transplantation, Solid Tumor/Investigational Therapeutics, Pulmonary Medicine, and Infectious Diseases.
Education and Experience
Medical Doctor degree and prior full-time experience in the field of Medical Oncology or a specialty of Hematologic Oncology, Bone Marrow Transplantation, Solid Tumor/Investigational Therapeutics, Pulmonary Medicine, and Infectious Diseases.

NOTE:
Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center as following acceptable educational practices.

Preferred but not required: Proven track record of NIH funding and publication in high impact journals. Strong consideration will be given to a physician scientist with lab research and current, transferable funding. Outside of this preference, we are seeking a candidate with a history of investigator-initiated clinical research and funding
Preferred but not required: Experience with immunotherapy, ability to develop new treatments and to promote Roswell Park’s national and international visibility in this area

• Experience in relevant areas of fundamental cancer biology, genomics technology development applicable to the study of GU cancers, creation and use of pre-clinical GU cancer models, novel approaches for analyzing GU cancer clinical specimens, and/or translation of novel research discoveries to clinical application.
• Successful track record in leadership.
