Reporting to Chief Distribution Officer, HK & Macau, this position is responsible for the leadership of Agency channel in Hong Kong & Macau.

The position is accountable for driving strong sales growth through agency channel in line with the Company’s Strategic Priorities which are presented to the senior leadership of Manulife. It includes growing the number and productivity of the Agency, increasing digital adoption and driving High Net Worth (HNW) and Mainland Chinese Visitors (MCV) business. To achieve this, the incumbent works closely with the heads of each product lines and Finance management to deliver appropriate product and compensation, and with other parties to build differentiation, quality service and tools.

This role is leading Agency Directors and other agency functions to achieve the profitable growth and development of the Agency Force, and ensure sales, productivity and recruitment goals are achieved with quality standards.  This position is also in charge of the management of the Agency Force in areas of communication, compliance, performance management of agents/ managers, for ensuring company objectives and compliance standards are achieved

Position Responsibilities:

• Deliver sales and recruitment targets for agency channel in line with strategic plans and objectives. It includes ensuring the quality of the business and delivering NBEV targets. This is managed through the Agency Sales team of and through working with the product lines and Agency Development teams to put in place product, service, incentives, management, recruitment packages and other forms of motivation (campaigns, etc.) as necessary to achieve Manulife’s goals.
• Partner with the product lines, marketing and Operations leaders to create positive differentiation through offering appropriate products, compensation, operational support and tools to the agency channel. This includes the removal of barriers so that distribution can operate at maximum possible efficiency.
• Develop and implement strategies to differentiate Manulife. This includes leading the digital tools adoption, recruitment profiles for Agency and other vital initiatives.
• Lead the Agency Contracting and Agency Recruitment teams to recommend sales compensation and other incentives for agency channel.
• Manage the necessary people, property and other infrastructure required to facilitate the agency channel. This includes the development of agency compliance capability, as well as establishing staffing plans and budgets to meet plan.
• Partner with related teams in the company to drive HNW and MCV initiatives enhancing our service model to meet the needs of these target segments. The areas include payment solutions, customer communications, onboarding customer experience, channel expansion, product strategy, and research.
• Capture the HNW and MCV opportunities and increase the penetration by enhancing sales process and services with effective controls in place. Motivate agency channel to expand their capabilities and opportunities in reaching HNW and MCV customers.

Required Qualifications:

• Strong understanding of meeting the financial needs of customers by providing insurance and protection products and services solutions.
• Implement effective agency distribution models and strategies to grow a profitable business.
• Ability to engage all levels of the organization to provide the products and services to the distribution channels.
• Strong leadership and coaching skills.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Successful track record of growing an insurance business within a relatively mature market environment.
