What to Expect?

The Chemical Production Supervisor leads daily liquid and dry blending operations across multiple shifts, ensuring safe, efficient production that meets schedule, quality, and regulatory requirements. This role combines hands-on production leadership with technical expertise in chemical blending, batch formulation, water treatment products, quality testing, and troubleshooting.

The supervisor also supports R&D activities, including product development, reformulation, testing, scale-up, and implementation into manufacturing. This position works closely with Planning, Purchasing, Maintenance, Quality, and Operations to align materials, equipment, labor, and production priorities while maintaining accurate batch records, COAs, lot traceability, and required documentation for regulated products.

On a daily basis our Chemical Production Supervisor:

• Leads daily liquid and dry chemical blending operations across multiple shifts, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality production.
• Coordinates production priorities, staffing, materials, equipment, and schedules to meet customer and business needs.
• Partners with Planning, Purchasing, Maintenance, Warehouse, Quality, and Operations teams to resolve constraints and keep production moving.
• Supports R&D and new product initiatives, including formulation, reformulation, testing, validation, scale-up, and manufacturing implementation.
• Provides technical guidance for batch production, including formula adjustments, batch scaling, chemical calculations, troubleshooting, and process improvements.
• Oversees analytical quality testing such as pH, viscosity, specific gravity, titration, moisture, turbidity, and other product-specific requirements.
• Ensures products meet internal specifications, customer expectations, regulatory requirements, and quality standards.
• Maintains accurate production and quality documentation, including batch records, Certificates of Analysis, lot codes, formulations, and test results.
• Ensures proper product traceability, labeling, container handling, and documentation for regulated products, including EPA-registered materials.
• Ensures blending equipment, tanks, pumps, lines, scales, and mixers are clean, calibrated, maintained, and ready for production.
• Monitors key performance metrics such as production efficiency, downtime, schedule attainment, inventory accuracy, quality results, and labor utilization.
• Drives Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement initiatives to improve workflow, reduce waste, increase consistency, and enhance department performance.
• Leads, coaches, trains, and develops team members while promoting accountability, teamwork, safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
• Provides regular feedback, complete performance reviews, and help develop future leaders within the department.

What You Will Need:

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, or a closely related scientific or technical discipline.
• Minimum of three years of supervisory or leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of chemical blending, batch manufacturing, formulations, and manufacturing processes.
• Strong technical math and chemical calculation skills, including batch scaling, concentration adjustments, formulation adjustments, and troubleshooting.
• Strong organizational, analytical, decision-making, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced chemical manufacturing environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Five or more years of progressive experience in chemical manufacturing, industrial chemical blending, batch manufacturing, or a related process-manufacturing environment.
• Experience with water treatment chemistry.
• Hands-on experience with R&D, product formulation, reformulation, product testing, validation, scale-up, or new product implementation.
• Knowledge of regulatory documentation, product traceability, batch record management, and chemical manufacturing quality systems.
• Experience with EPA-registered products preferred.
• Experience with Root Cause Analysis, corrective actions, Lean Manufacturing, and Continuous Improvement.
• Experience with production scheduling, inventory control, labor planning, equipment utilization, and manufacturing performance metrics.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience with J.D. Edwards, AS400, or a comparable ERP/manufacturing system.
