Our mission is to make a significant portion of the economy of Pakistan radically more efficient.

Stores in Pakistan have been buying products in the same way for nearly a century. Why should 20 trucks deliver to the same store in a single day? Why do people travel on bikes, burning fuel needlessly, to collect orders on scraps of paper? Why do store owners wait restlessly for someone to visit once a week to collect an order?

Tajir is a radical break from the past. We offer an app where stores can buy everything they need, delivered reliably the next day. We drastically reduce the number of vehicles on the road with efficient, centralized delivery, so both store owners and manufacturers enjoy higher profits. With $150B in purchases made by retailers annually, even modest efficiency gains have an outsized economic impact.

About the role

BizOps is short for Business Operations. We take on problems that haven’t been solved yet, usually because they cut across a few teams and don’t clearly belong to any one of them.

The way the team works is build-operate-transfer. You get a problem, work out what’s actually causing it, design a fix and run it yourself until it’s holding. Then, you hand it to the team that will own it from then on and move onto the next one.

Some of the work is operations. Some is supply chain, finance or growth. A fair amount involves engineering, because the fix often needs something built.

Right now, that might mean working out why a warehouse keeps dispatching late. Next quarter it could be why payments from certain outlets don’t settle cleanly. When either of that improves, thousands of stores feel the difference.

We use Claude and other AI tools across the team and you'll be expected to as well. It makes most of the work around a problem faster.

What you will do

Own a problem from start to finish.

• Find it. Go through dispatch, order and delivery data. Then go and look. Sit with a warehouse supervisor at dispatch, ride a delivery route, spend a morning in a market. A lot of what's broken doesn't show up in a dashboard.

• Break it down. Problems arrive vague. Part of the job is cutting one into pieces small enough to work on, then deciding which piece comes first. You'll have to explain that choice.

• Design the fix. Sometimes it's a process change. Sometimes it needs building, in which case you write the spec and work with our engineers to get it made. Automate whatever shouldn't be manual.

• Run it, then hand it over. Watch the numbers until they move and stay moved. Write down what worked and what didn't. Then hand it to whoever owns it long term.

Whatever you build, somebody specific has to use it. A loader at a distribution centre, someone in the head office, sometimes a founder. That person is who you're designing for.

Who we're looking for

A bachelor's degree in any discipline. You don't need prior experience, and we're open to any background or career stage. What matters:

• You communicate clearly, in writing and in person.

• You learn fast and can make progress without waiting to be told what to do, even when the problem is messy and nobody has written the playbook.

• You question why things run the way they do, and reason up from the problem itself.

• You finish things. A lot of this job is the unglamorous middle — running a fix yourself for weeks, chasing a number that won't move, fixing what breaks along the way.

• You want to be around our customers, learning from them and helping decide what we build next.

• You work well with anyone from a loader to a founder, and you take direct feedback and act on it.

• Hands-on experience with data tools, especially Google Sheets, SQL or Metabase.

• You've built or run something outside university or work. A business, a side project, a society, a team.
  
  

The one thing that helps your application most

Go and sit with a kiryana store owner for twenty minutes. Ask what he buys, how he buys it, who he buys it from, and what irritates him about the whole business.

Then tell us what you heard. Not a polished write-up. What actually surprised you, what he complained about, and what you'd do about it if it were your problem.

It's completely optional and plenty of people will skip it. But it's the closest thing to the actual job, and it tells us more than any answer you could write from your desk. We read every one of them.
