About this Role
Semafor seeks recent college graduates with experience working in communications, on Capitol Hill, or within executive offices to support our flagship live journalism events in a temporary role to prepare our journalists, speakers, and attendees for participation at our flagship convening, Silicon Valley & The World. You will collaborate with our content, programming, and events teams to develop briefing materials, prepare background research, gather biographies, and organize key event logistical information. The ideal candidate is highly organized and has an extreme attention to detail, independently motivated, and exceptionally responsive. This is more than an administrative and operations role; it is a fast-paced command center position at the intersection of media, live production, and executive operations.
Your Responsibilities
- Compile and synthesize complex logistical information.
- Draft, format, and distribute briefing packets for VIP speakers, moderators, and attendees.
- Research key talking points and gather speaker and attendee biographies.
- Support Semafor’s events team with other duties as required in preparation for the event.
What makes you qualified
- 1–2 years of experience in journalism, communications, Capitol Hill, or executive assistance in a high-velocity environment (Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience)
- Impeccable judgment, comfort with ambiguity, and a calm, customer-service-driven composure when details change
- Exceptional project management skills with the strongest attention to detail and an ability to manage multiple tasks, deadlines, and competing priorities
- Strongest communication skills, both written and verbal
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel and Word, and Google Workspace
Compensation:
- The hourly rate for this position will be $32.00 USD. Individual compensation varies based on job related factors, including business needs, experience, level of responsibility, and qualifications.
