Your Mission

As a Backend Software Engineer, your primary focus will be supporting e-commerce development and operations across APAC. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will design, build, and maintain scalable backend solutions using Java and Spring Boot. You will turn business requirements into stable, high-performance microservices that power digital commerce.

Key Responsibilities

• Feature Development & Delivery
• Write clean, reusable, testable, and maintainable backend code in Java / Spring Boot, gracefully handling edge cases and potential errors.
• Partner closely with Product Managers, Engineering Managers, and business stakeholders to scope, estimate, and deploy features aligned with commercial priorities.
• System Design & API Architecture
• Design robust backend APIs conforming to strict HTTP standards, RESTful specifications, and standard data interchange formats (JSON, XML).
• Apply established design patterns to microservices architectures, evaluate technical trade-offs, and resolve complex system problems to maintain high availability.
• Code Quality, Security, Processes & Documentation
• Development Best Practices: Uphold software quality through peer code reviews, clean code practices, and unit/integration testing.
• Process & Framework Compliance: Strictly adhere to global and team software engineering standards, framework recommendations, and application security guidelines.
• Comprehensive Documentation: Proactively write and maintain thorough technical and functional documentation, including API specifications, Architecture Decision Records (ADRs), architecture diagrams, and team wiki pages, to explain system design and operational workflows.
• Security & Observability: Implement secure APIs (OAuth 2.0). Build error logging, reporting, and monitoring solutions to observe key performance indicators and guarantee operational stability for e-commerce services.
• Knowledge Sharing & Continuous Learning
• Maintain an active technology watch, participate in internal tech initiatives and share best practices with the team.

Requirements

Ideal Profile & Technical Competencies

• Experience: 3+ years of backend software engineering experience, with strong hands-on mastery of Java and the Spring Boot framework.
• API Standards & Security: Deep understanding of RESTful API design, HTTP status codes/methods, and securing web services with OAuth 2.0.
• Data & Messaging: Practical experience working with relational databases and asynchronous messaging systems.
• Cloud Skills: Familiarity with cloud-native microservices architecture, containerization, Kubernetes, version control (Git), and CI/CD pipelines.
• Agile & Collaborative: Strong verbal and written communication skills with proven success working in Agile environments.
• Proactive & Adaptive: Energetic, challenge-oriented, and curious with a drive to continuously learn and adapt.
• Industry: E-commerce domain experience is an advantage.
