The Tax Accountant supports ACC’s U.S. tax function across property and corporate entities, with responsibility for the preparation of tax workpapers, reconciliations, draft filings, compliance schedules and related supporting documentation for onshore review. The role works closely with the US-based Tax team and internal stakeholders across Accounting, FP&A, Asset Management, Operations and other functions to support timely and accurate compliance with federal, state and local tax requirements.
The Tax Accountant performs assigned tax compliance, tax accounting and reporting activities within established procedures and review standards, maintains accurate and well-supported workpapers, and proactively identifies deadlines, exceptions and data-quality issues requiring escalation. The role also supports tax audits, notices, REIT compliance, internal controls and process-improvement initiatives across the Tax function.
Primary Role – Managed Portfolio Accounting and Reporting

- Support ad valorem tax compliance by maintaining tax calendars and trackers, assembling payment support, coordinating required property data and managing consultant deliverables in accordance with established procedures.
- Prepare sales, use, privilege and other indirect tax filings and reconciliations, investigate differences and submit complete and accurate deliverables for onshore review.
- Prepare schedules and supporting workpapers related to REIT qualification, earnings and profits, tax accounting and other applicable tax requirements.
- Apply established US GAAP and tax procedures in preparing book-to-tax reconciliations, tax return workpapers and financial-reporting support, including ASC 740-related schedules.
- Maintain federal, state and local tax calendars, compliance trackers and filing schedules, proactively identifying upcoming deadlines, missing inputs and exceptions requiring escalation.
- Maintain entity-level tax data, jurisdictional registrations, renewals and licensing inventories, and prepare supporting documentation for required onshore action.
- Prepare tax analyses, account reconciliations and audit-support workpapers; investigate discrepancies, document findings and escalate matters requiring judgment or technical interpretation.
- Draft responses and supporting documentation for tax notices, examinations and audits for onshore review, and communicate externally only when specifically authorized.
- Perform assigned Sarbanes-Oxley controls and other tax-control activities, maintaining complete supporting evidence and adherence to departmental policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with US-based Tax, Accounting, FP&A and other internal teams to obtain complete and accurate information required for tax compliance, reporting and analysis.
- Maintain organized workpapers, clear audit trails, appropriate version control and confidentiality in accordance with company standards and established review requirements.
- Identify opportunities to improve tax workflows, standardize recurring processes and reduce manual effort, and support process-improvement and automation initiatives in coordination with onshore leadership.
- Work independently within established procedures and review requirements while proactively escalating issues, exceptions and matters requiring judgment.
- Work from the Bengaluru office under the hybrid working model, with working hours aligned to provide meaningful daily overlap with US business hours; flexibility is expected during tax filing periods, quarter-end and year-end reporting cycles, and other peak periods.
- Perform other projects and responsibilities as assigned.
