Job Summary

The Athletics Videographer manages the design and development of all aspects of video production for FGCU Athletics. Responsible for translating department goals into strategic media deliverables that reinforce the FGCU Athletics brand to internal and external audiences.

Job Description

Typical duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Coordinates and oversees video production including pre-production meetings, concept development, script development, filming, production, directing, editing, and archiving.
  • Produces creative advertising, highlights, event and feature videos for 15 NCAA DI sports, providing turnkey short post-game day videos and clips, hype videos, promotional and advertising messages, green screen material, and sponsor videos for website, social media, and advertising. Produces in-house content for videoboards.
  • Recruits and schedules talent for shoots in accordance with department and university policies and procedures
  • Operates and maintains proper levels and calibration of cameras, audio, video recorders, and other production equipment.
  • Develops new techniques, systems, and procedures to enhance operations and address issues.
  • Suggests workflow, analyses redesign and implements new processes and best practices.
  • Reviews progress and evaluates results.
  • May provide video production training and development services to enhance team skills in videography, video editing, storytelling, and content creation.
  • Complies with all University and ASUN Conference regulations, as well as all NCAA rules and regulations. Remains current with all changes in NCAA, as well as changes to University and ASUN Conference rules and regulations regarding intercollegiate athletics. This includes the requirement for self-reporting any possible rule violations and participation in the annual NCAA test, if applicable. Any violation of NCAA rules is prohibited and may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.

Additional Job Description

Required Qualifications for Athletics Videographer Level I:

  • This position requires either five years of directly related full-time experience or, as an alternative, a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in communication, journalism, photography, media production or a related field and one year of full-time experience directly related to the job functions.
  • Professional full-time experience in video production, concept development, filming and editing.
  • Experience with non-linear editing software, such as Adobe Premiere.
  • Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.

Required Qualifications for Athletics Videographer Level II:

  • This position requires either six years of directly related full-time experience or, as an alternative, a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in communication, journalism, photography, media production or a related field and two years of full-time experience directly related to the job functions.
  • Professional full-time experience in video production, concept development, filming and editing.
  • Experience with non-linear editing software, such as Adobe Premiere.
  • Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Proven ability to think strategically and approach challenges with creativity.
  • Demonstrated track record of reliability, meeting goals, and holding oneself accountable.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and experience working effectively across teams.
  • Knowledge of NCAA and ASUN Conference rules and regulations as they pertain to the job duties.
  • Knowledge and ability to recognize and implement video, broadcast production techniques and standards, branding and marketing principles.
  • Knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Knowledge of lighting and sound recording techniques, special effects, 3D, and compositing.
  • Knowledge of storyboard scripting and ability to collaborate as part of an “in-house” creative team to fulfill goals as assigned in a quick turn-around, D1 Collegiate sports environment.
  • Knowledge of formatting video and gifs for integration with or into social media.
  • Strong organizational skills and an ability to prioritize and complete simultaneous projects within deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to work successfully as both a member of a team and independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to interact in a professional manner with staff, faculty, students, and the community in a service-oriented environment.
  • Ability to analyze problems and develop creative solutions to complex issues.
  • Ability to design promotional and marketing materials including brochures, newsletters, posters, on-line banners, ads, reports, and news and magazine features.
  • Ability to operate a personal computer for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage conflicting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to act independently upon information and make decisions that achieve optimal results.

Athletics Videographer Level II- Pay Grade 16

Applicants will be evaluated for roles as either Athletics Videographer I or Athletics Videographer II based on their qualifications.
