Job Description & Summary

Our FS Risk & Regulation team works with banks and other regulated financial institutions on the financial (prudential) risk issues that affect how they manage capital, liquidity, regulatory reporting, stress testing, recovery and resolution.

This role is for someone with strong banking prudential risk expertise who wants to use that knowledge in varied, client-facing work, rather than in a purely internal control, policy or reporting role. You will work across a small number of client projects at any one time, using your technical knowledge to understand the issue, analyse the facts, develop clear outputs and help clients progress practical actions.

The work is varied and technical. One project may involve reviewing a bank’s regulatory reporting process, another may involve assessing liquidity risk governance or economic capital modelling, and another may require interpreting new prudential requirements and setting out what needs to change. You will need to be organised, comfortable with competing priorities, able to manage multiple deliverables and able to maintain quality across different topics and deadlines.

About the Role:

• Work on concurrent client projects or workstreams, often covering different prudential risk topics, with responsibility for organising your work, tracking actions and delivering agreed outputs. Your focus will be on the execution and delivery of the projects.
• Review client information such as policies, procedures, governance packs, regulatory returns, risk reports, committee materials, models, calculations and management information to understand how the current approach works.
• Use your financial (prudential) risk knowledge to identify issues, gaps, inconsistencies or areas where the client’s approach may not meet regulatory requirements, supervisory expectations or good practice.
• Analyse numerical information, including capital, liquidity, stress testing, regulatory reporting and balance sheet data, and explain what the figures show, what assumptions have been used and where further challenge may be needed.
• Prepare clear deliverables such as findings papers, gap analyses, impact assessments, remediation plans, framework documents, process maps, management reports and materials for senior stakeholders.
• Attend meetings and working sessions with client teams across Risk, Finance, Treasury, Regulatory Reporting and senior management to gather information, test understanding, discuss findings and agree next steps.
• Keep project teams informed on progress, risks and dependencies, and escalate where timelines, scope, data availability or competing priorities need to be managed.
• Review the work of junior team members, provide clear feedback and help them build technical knowledge, structured analysis and excellent delivery discipline.
• Contribute to internal technical materials, market updates, proposals and points of view on emerging prudential risk topics.

Who we are looking for:

You may have specialist knowledge in any one of the areas below, with a desire and willingness to learn the others:

• At least 4+ years of experience working in a related area such as capital management, liquidity, risk or liquidity management, regulatory reporting, recovery and resolution, stress testing and credit risk.
• Capital management: capital planning, capital adequacy, balance sheet management and optimisation. Understanding of the CRR and RWA calculations.  
• Credit risk: credit risk frameworks, credit risk appetite, portfolio monitoring, credit risk data and MI, impairment and provisioning approaches, credit risk model outputs, and the use of credit risk parameters such as PD, LGD and EAD in regulatory capital, stress testing and management reporting.
• Liquidity management: LCR, NSFR, ILAAP, contingency funding planning, intraday liquidity, liquidity governance and risk appetite. Knowledge of the LCR Delegated Act and the CRR.
• Stress testing: internal and regulatory stress testing (supporting the ICAAP, ILAAP, and recovery plan), liquidity stress testing, scenario design, modelling methodologies, assumptions, governance, documentation, and use of results.
• Recovery and resolution: recovery planning, wind-down planning, resolution planning, resolvability assessments, dry runs, and related regulatory submissions.
• Regulatory reporting: COREP, LCR/NSFR, ALMM, STE, resolution reporting, data quality, governance and control frameworks.
• Numerical and analytical capability: ability to read, interpret and challenge data, calculations, assumptions, modelling and outputs, and management information. Quantitative skills or experience with modelling approaches would be a plus.
• Business Acumen - use a broad range of tools and techniques to extract insights from current trends in the market and utilise this information to assist your clients in making innovative business decisions.
• Relationship management - ability to read situations and modify behaviour to build quality, diverse relationships.
• Creative - demonstrate an ability to contribute to new ideas and propose innovative solutions to problems. 
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
