Purpose:
The Associate Medical Director contributes medical and scientific expertise to late-stage dermatology and respiratory clinical development. Working with experienced clinical leaders, the role supports assigned studies and program strategy, with responsibility for rigorous trial conduct, participant safety, medical oversight, data interpretation, and high-quality clinical and regulatory deliverables across immune-mediated dermatologic, respiratory, and allergic diseases.
You will be responsible for:
- Contribute to the design, execution, analysis, and reporting of Phase 2 and Phase 3 dermatology and respiratory trials, aligned with clinical development strategy, Good Clinical Practice, and global regulatory requirements.
- Medical oversight for assigned studies, including eligibility guidance, medical monitoring, safety review, protocol deviation assessment, and data review.
- Participate actively in cross-functional study teams and partner closely with clinical scientists and matrix stakeholders to help drive timely decisions, risk mitigation, and delivery of study milestones from study concept and start-up through database lock, reporting, disclosure, and close-out.
- Develop and review clinical documents, including study concepts, protocols, case report forms, operational and analytic plans, investigator brochures, statistical analysis inputs, clinical study reports, publications and other scientific communications.
- Contribute medical content to regulatory submissions, briefing packages, health authority responses, and regulatory interactions.
- Provide clinical expertise and scientific leadership in the areas of responsibility.
- Build effective relationships with investigators, external experts, patient organizations, and development partners, and represent J&J Innovative Medicine and the Immunology TA with professionalism and integrity both internally and externally.
- Authorship of abstracts and manuscripts for publication based on clinical trial data and presentation of data and scientific information to the organization and externally at all levels.
- Support disease- and pathway-area strategy, evaluation of novel outcome measures, and assessment of new mechanisms, modalities, and external opportunities relevant to dermatology, respiratory medicine, allergy, and immune-mediated inflammatory disease.
- Contribute to a collaborative, inclusive, innovative, and high-accountability culture; actively seek feedback to strengthen clinical-development capability.
Qualifications / Requirements:
- MD or equivalent medical degree is required.
- Board Certification / Eligibility (or equivalent) in dermatology, allergy and immunology, or pulmonary desirable.
- Experience and clinical expertise in dermatology, allergy and immunology, pulmonology, or a closely related immune-mediated discipline is strongly preferred.
- Relevant clinical care or clinical research experience in an academic setting, pharmaceutical or biotechnology is preferred.
- Experience in design, execution, analysis, reporting of interventional clinical trials, ideally for immune-mediated inflammatory diseases in dermatology or related disease areas, is strongly preferred.
- Strong clinical judgment and current knowledge of immunology, relevant disease biology and clinical practice in dermatology, allergy, and/or respiratory medicine, clinical trial methodology, and Good Clinical Practice.
- Ability to analyze clinical and scientific data, identify important issues, and communicate a clear recommendation.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in global, cross-functional, and matrixed teams.
- Clear scientific writing, presentation, collaboration, and influencing skills.
- Learning agility, curiosity, creativity, openness to feedback, and a strong commitment to teamwork and shared accountability.
- Comfort using artificial intelligence, digital tools, and emerging technologies responsibly to improve productivity, strengthen scientific analysis, and support high-quality clinical development deliverables.
- Ability to travel ~10-20% domestically and internationally as business needs require.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is :
$159,000.00 - $274,850.00Additional Description for Pay Transparency:
Subject to the terms of their respective plans, employees are eligible to participate in the Company’s consolidated retirement plan (pension) and savings plan (401(k)).Subject to the terms of their respective policies and date of hire, employees are eligible for the following time off benefits:
• Vacation –120 hours per calendar year
• Sick time - 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Colorado –48 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington –56 hours per calendar year
• Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays –13 days per calendar year
• Work, Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year
• Parental Leave – 480 hours within one year of the birth/adoption/foster care of a child
• Bereavement Leave – 240 hours for an immediate family member: 40 hours for an extended family member per calendar year
• Caregiver Leave – 80 hours in a 52-week rolling period10 days
• Volunteer Leave – 32 hours per calendar year
