What is the opportunity?

RBC Capital Markets is seeking an Associate Equity Derivative Structurer to join its Structuring team within the Global Equity Derivatives franchise. In this role, you will design, price, and support the development of structured equity products and exotic derivatives, working collaboratively with traders, sales teams, and quantitative specialists. This role offers exposure to innovative, client-centric product development combined with structured product engineering, requiring both strong technical acumen and commercial instincts to deliver solutions that generate tangible impact for clients and the franchise

What will you do?

• Price equity derivative products including autocallables, barrier notes, range accruals, knockout structures, and cliquet features.
• Understand existing pricing models and develop new payoffs and pricing frameworks for exotic structures; perform sensitivity analysis and stress testing across market scenarios.
• Work closely with the trading desk on pricing, hedging feasibility, and risk assessment for new structured products, ensuring proposed trades are executable and aligned with desk risk appetite.
• Partner with sales teams across North America (with a US focus) to understand client needs, provide structuring ideas, and support the origination pipeline with compelling trade proposals, term sheets, and marketing materials.
• Engage with institutional clients—including asset managers, private banks, insurance companies, and corporates—to present structured products, respond to client enquiries, and build lasting relationships.
• Produce high-quality marketing materials, payoff analyses, scenario analyses, and back-tests to support client discussions and internal approvals.
• Monitor market conditions, volatility surfaces, correlation dynamics, and product trends to identify structuring opportunities and stay ahead of client demand for innovative products.
• Lead and support global analysis of pricing competitivity across equity derivative markets, identifying market opportunities, competitive gaps, and optimal pricing strategies for structured products.
• Contribute to automation initiatives aimed at streamlining structuring processes, reducing manual touchpoints, and improving operational scalability across the franchise.
• Collaborate with quantitative analysts, technology teams, and index specialists on model validation, pricing tool enhancements, governance frameworks, and workflow improvements for the structuring desk.
  

What do you need to succeed?

• Proven experience as an equity derivatives structurer at a major investment bank, with a strong focus on light exotics and structured products.      
• In-depth technical knowledge of equity derivative payoffs including autocallables, barrier options, worst-of, best-of, lookback, cliquet, variance swaps, correlation swaps, covariance structures, and digital structures.
• Strong quantitative and analytical background—typically a degree in Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Financial Engineering, or a related quantitative discipline.
• Excellent client-facing skills with a track record of structuring and presenting derivative solutions to investors.
• Strong proficiency in Python and familiarity with pricing libraries, Monte Carlo simulation, and risk analytics platforms.
• Commercially driven mindset with the ability to balance innovation with pragmatism and deliver trades that are both impactful for clients and profitable for the desk.

Preferred Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with technology infrastructure development, automation frameworks, and process optimization in financial environments.
• Experience structuring risk recycling trades and working with trading to identify and monetize inventory risk through client-facing solutions.
• Familiarity with structured product distribution across North America (with a US focus), including private bank and insurance channels, and awareness of wrapper-specific requirements.
• Knowledge of ISDA documentation, CSA terms, and the operational lifecycle of structured derivatives trades.
• CFA, FRM, or equivalent professional qualifications are a plus but not essential.

The expected salary range for this particular position is $165,000-$200,000 depending on your experience, skills, and registration status, market conditions and business needs.
