Summary
The Associate Designer supports Design Studio operations by providing administrative assistance and working directly with new homebuyers to guide the selection of interior finishes for their homes. This role contributes to a positive, welcoming, and innovative design experience by helping homebuyers navigate what can be an exciting but complex process. The Associate Designer assists with color selections and interior finish options, including flooring, cabinetry, countertops, plumbing fixtures, lighting, appliances, and related design elements.
 

Essential Functions

Design Center & Administrative Support

• Supports design center processes.

• Provides administrative support, including preparing designer files for appointments and assisting with data entry and documents management.

• Provide Design support based on demand and volume.

• Accurately record product selections using established department procedures, systems, and practices.

• Adhere to and manage builder time frames for lot file submission.

Showroom & Product Management

• May work with Design Center Manager and vendors to correctly sample and display programs in showrooms. Maintains showroom and displays.

• Maintain knowledge regarding communities and all products in the showroom.

Homebuyer Experience & Design Consultation

• Assess homebuyer(s) needs, preferences, and expectations regarding their lifestyle and specific products for their new home.

• Advise homebuyer(s) on interior design factors, such as space planning, layout and color coordination.

• Ensure that homebuyer(s) is aware of all options available for product upgrades.

• Provide complete product information detailing performance, durability, and maintenance of homebuyer(s) selections.

• Is knowledgeable and able to communicate the design center experience and the overall new home buying experience.

• Conduct browse appointments when necessary.

Sales, Metrics & Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Will be working closely with sales counselors at all communities.

• Meet all sales metrics.

Autonomy, Professional Judgment & Other Duties

• Nature of work requires increasing independence; receives guidance only on unusual complex problems or issues.

• Work review typically involves periodic review of output by supervisor and/or direct "customers" of the process.

• Other job duties as assigned.

Education & Experience

• Must be at least eighteen years of age

• Must pass work eligibility requirements

• Generally 0-3 years of experience in related field preferred

• Interior Design Degree a plus, but not required

• Must have excellent interpersonal/communication skills, detail-oriented, and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word and Outlook).
