BAIN CAPITAL INSURANCE OVERVIEW
Bain Capital Insurance is a leading global private equity investor focused specifically on the insurance industry. Our insurance private equity business combines experienced, senior team connectivity and the broader Bain Capital platform to identify attractive risk-adjusted return opportunities across the insurance industry with a focus on control or significant negative control. We seek to collaborate with leading insurance businesses and management teams to unlock value and drive innovation across the insurance industry, specializing in insurance investing strategies that span the entire value chain and growth spectrum – from catalyzing transformational change, creating new platforms, and stepping into capacity-driven dislocations, to partnering with industry participants to meet their long term strategic and investment return targets.

INSURANCE TEAM OVERVIEW
The Bain Capital Insurance investment team is comprised of 23 U.S. team members and 3 U.K. team members. As a small team, each team member takes on a high degree of responsibility across the investment process. Team members interact regularly with external advisors, management teams, and the investment committee to conduct research, review and diligence potential transactions, and manage existing positions. We are currently hiring an Associate to join our team in Boston.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform fundamental company-specific due diligence: visit company management, conduct proprietary research in the field (with customers, suppliers, etc.), and analyze financial statements
- Perform industry-level analyses, including market data research, speaking to industry experts, and attending industry conferences to inform the investment process and provide critical context
- Build out company models, perform valuation analysis, and analyze returns sensitivities
- Effectively communicate your views with team members
- Close involvement in fundraising and investor communication
- Learn and adopt the firm’s straightforward investment process, characterized by direct verbal communication and concise written investment summaries supported by in-depth data-driven analysis (i.e., quantitative models of market size/growth, competitive positioning, and financial statements/analysis valuation)
QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong academic credentials (BS/BA from highly regarded institution) and a demonstrated track record of successful work experience
- 2-3 years of experience with an investment banking or venture capital/private equity firm
- Strong interest in insurance and financial institutions
- A fundamental, analytically driven approach to investing with strong analytical/modeling capability
- Ability to work collaboratively in team environments and strong relationship-building skills
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with ability to synthesize complicated analyses concisely and to articulate insightful conclusions compellingly. Open to spirited debate over ideas.
