Responsibilities include teaching sport leadership and management courses; advising students; and providing professional service to the department, college, and institution. This is an on-campus position and requires regular on-campus presence.

Miami University (Oxford, OH) is announcing a search for an Assistant Teaching Professor to teach undergraduate and graduate courses beginning Fall Semester 2027. Responsibilities include teaching sport leadership and management courses; advising students; and providing professional service to the department, college, and institution. This is an on-campus position and requires regular on-campus presence.

 

Assistant Teaching Professor positions are eligible for promotion to Associate and Full rank with 1-year, 3-year, and 5-year contracts, respectively, but are non-tenure eligible.

 

Minimum Qualifications: A doctorate in Sport Leadership, Sport Management, Sport Administration, or closely-related field required by date of appointment.

 

Consideration may be given to candidates with: 1) evidence of high-quality instruction; and 2) experience teaching sport management courses at the college level including, but not limited to, classes such as Sport Marketing, Sport Administration, Facilities and Event Management, Sport Ethics, or Sport Analytics.

 

Sport Leadership and Management (SLAM) is a growing department serving 800+ undergraduate students (majors and minors) and 45+ graduate students. The mission of SLAM is to prepare students to succeed in leadership positions in the sport industry by providing them with knowledge and skills to critically analyze and innovatively engage in the business and culture of sport. The SLAM has three undergraduate majors designed to prepare students for specific career opportunities in Sport Management, Sport Coaching, Sport Communication and Media. SLAM students often double major or minor in management, marketing, or entrepreneurship in the Farmer School of Business, a nationally ranked top-25 undergraduate business program.
