We are looking for an Assistant Tax Manager to join our Operational Tax team and build their expertise across a broad range of international tax obligations. Working across Australia, New Zealand, the UK, Europe, Singapore and the US, you’ll play an important role in ensuring our operational tax reporting remains accurate and compliant as CMC Markets continues to grow. What you’ll be working on

Reporting to the Operational Tax Manager, you’ll support the delivery of operational tax requirements across CMC Markets’ international business. You’ll work across tax reporting, withholding obligations, client onboarding, reconciliations and system functionality, while helping identify risks and opportunities to improve how we work. You’ll also collaborate with Group Tax and project teams to ensure tax requirements are understood and embedded into business processes and system changes.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting accurate and timely operational tax reporting across multiple jurisdictions.

• Preparing and reviewing reporting including AIIR, US withholding tax, FATCA, CRS and CARF.

• Supporting transaction tax obligations, including FTT and Stamp Duty.

• Reviewing tax treatment across financial instruments, corporate actions and distributions.

• Reconciling operational tax reporting and investigating discrepancies.

• Reviewing system tax functionality and contributing to system enhancements.

• Identifying tax risks, efficiencies and opportunities for process improvement.

You’ll also bring:

• At least 3+ years’ of experience in operational tax or a related tax regulatory environment within an international financial institution.

• Practical experience with Australian investment tax, including the tax treatment of financial instruments, corporate actions and distributions.

• Experience with operational tax reporting requirements, including CRS, FATCA and US tax reporting.

• Experience working across multiple projects and stakeholder groups.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Relevant tertiary qualifications in accounting or tax, with CA/CTA qualifications.
