The College of Education and Human Development at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi invites applications for a 9-Month, Tenure-Track position of Higher Education Administration at the rank of Assistant Professor in the Department of Educational Leadership. The position may begin as early as the Fall 2027 semester.

The Department of Educational Leadership is committed to advancing educational leadership across all educational settings. We offer five graduate programs of study, including the M.S. in Higher Education Administration and the Ed.D. in Educational Leadership with a concentration in Higher Education Administration. Both emphasize college student development, institutional governance, and operations through a critical justice-oriented lens.

The primary responsibilities of this position include:

• Teaching graduate-level courses in the Higher Education Administration M.S. and Educational Leadership Ed.D. programs, including core and applied-research topics;
• Establishing and leading an active research agenda commensurate with a Carnegie Research 2 institution, with an emphasis on producing impactful scholarship and pursuing external funding opportunities;
• Disseminating research findings through peer-reviewed publications, practitioner outlets, and scholarly conferences;
• Advising and mentoring graduate students, including chairing and serving on dissertation committees; and
• Supporting student recruitment and retention in both the M.S. and Ed.D. programs.

We seek a scholar with higher education experience who will help advance the university's mission and prepare future educational leaders. More specifically, we seek a colleague prepared to teach graduate courses in the M.S. in Higher Education Administration and Ed.D. in Educational Leadership programs, particularly in areas such as organization and administration, academic advising and student support, student development, and related areas of higher education practice. The successful candidate will maintain an active research agenda related to higher education leadership, organizations, student success, policy, or institutional practice and contribute to the preparation of graduate students for leadership roles across colleges and universities; and support the continued growth, recruitment, and retention of students in the department’s graduate programs.

Required Qualifications:

• Earned doctorate in higher education, higher education leadership or policy, postsecondary education, student affairs administration, or a closely related field; Advanced ABD will be considered, degree must be conferred by the time of appointment.
• At least three (3) years of full-time professional administrative experience in higher education institutions (e.g., academic advising, student affairs, enrollment management, or student support services)
• Experience teaching graduate-level coursework in higher education administration, including organization and administration and/or other areas related to academic advising, student support, student development, or institutional practice
• Demonstrated evidence of engaging in scholarly/creative works and teaching to enhance the mission of the university related to higher education leadership, organizations, student success, and institutional practice
• Demonstrated participation in scholarly-practitioner communities (e.g., campus, state-wide, and national conferences) and the dissemination of scholarship to both academic and applied audiences

Preferred Qualifications:

• At least five (5) years of full-time professional administrative experience in higher education institutions
• Experience contributing to programmatic, organizational, or student-success improvement initiatives in higher education settings
• Evidence of sustained involvement or leadership in higher education or student-support professional associations through committee service, conference presentations or workshops, or elected or appointed leadership roles
• Experience contributing to externally funded research or demonstrated potential to pursue external funding
• Experience teaching and mentoring graduate students from varying backgrounds, including in online or hybrid learning environments, with a demonstrated commitment to supporting student success
