Summary

The Assistant Maintenance Manager helps lead the planning, execution, and continuous improvement of the maintenance activities within the organization. This role helps to ensure that equipment and systems operate safely, efficiently, and reliably while supporting production goals, regulatory compliance, and cost effectiveness.

What You'll Do:

 Leadership & Strategy:

  • Define the maintenance strategy aligned with KST’s objectives.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary team.
  • Set performance targets for reliability, downtime, safety, and cost.

Maintenance Management:

  • Oversee preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs.
  • Prioritize work orders, allocate resources, and manage scheduling to minimize production impact.
  • Implement CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) best practices and ensure data integrity.

Operations Support:

  • Provide technical guidance to the maintenance team for equipment upkeep and preventive maintenance programs, targeting 100 % on-time delivery to customers.
  • Oversee the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition System (SCADA) and its displays, continuously expanding data capture capabilities.
  • Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot all PLC programs supporting plant equipment; train maintenance personnel to increase PLC proficiency
  • Work with KST Plant Manager to manage maintenance team members hours, PTO time and although the final decision would be up to the plant manager, some input in addressing corrective actions up to termination.

Project Management:

  • Assemble and lead project teams (internal and external).
  • Assign tasks, monitor progress, and adjust schedules as needed.
  • Facilitate regular status meetings and communication channels.

Stakeholder Collaboration:

  • Communicate with production, maintenance, quality, and senior leadership to align priorities.
  • Communicate plans, risks, and outcomes clearly to all stakeholders.

What You Need

High School Diploma or GED

5-10 years experiences in a smelting facility with 3-5 years of management experience. Bachelor's degree preferred, but not required.

Travel Less than 10%.
