About the role
We’re seeking an Asset Planning Principal Engineer – Pavement to play a critical role in shaping and optimising Transurban’s near-term pavement investment strategy, translating long-term asset plans into a commercially focused, prioritised two-year programme of works across our toll road portfolio.
You’ll join a collaborative Asset Strategy team that works across operational, delivery, engineering and commercial functions to maximise the performance, value and long-term sustainability of some of Australia’s most important transport infrastructure assets.
As our Asset Planning Principal Engineer – Pavement, you’ll contribute to lasting and positive changes that shape the future of our cities and communities. It’s meaningful, challenging and exciting work.
Day-to-day, you will:
- Develop and optimise a commercially focused two-year pavement programme of works that balances cost, risk and value across Transurban’s infrastructure portfolio.
- Shape and prioritise investment decisions by optimising work sequencing, bundling, engineering solutions and delivery timing to achieve the best business outcomes.
- Provide engineering sponsorship and oversight for pavement delivery programs, helping ensure projects achieve their technical, budget and business objectives.
- Collaborate with engineering, delivery and asset management teams to ensure near-term delivery outcomes continually inform and improve long-term asset planning.
- Support the ongoing development and continuous improvement of short-term portfolio planning processes and cross-functional ways of working.
- Build trusted relationships and influence stakeholders across engineering, operations, commercial and external partner groups to achieve collective outcomes.
- Champion effective risk management, safety leadership and adherence to Transurban’s engineering, asset management and operational standards.
- Contribute as an enterprise leader, influencing peers and teams across the organisation to deliver strategic ROAD business objectives.
This role will suit someone with a curious mind and transferrable skills and experiences, including:
Degree qualifications in Engineering (such as Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering), with significant experience in asset management, asset engineering and planning.
- Experience shaping, planning and overseeing engineering or infrastructure programs, with a strong understanding of project planning, delivery and monitoring.
- Commercial acumen and the ability to assess cost, risk and deliverability considerations to prioritise work and achieve strong business outcomes.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across multiple teams and functions to drive outcomes.
- A continuous improvement mindset, coupled with the ability to navigate complex environments and identify opportunities to enhance planning processes, asset performance and long-term value.
If you meet some of these requirements, but not all, we encourage you to submit your application.
