Position Summary:
The Advanced Manufacturing Engineer (AME) is responsible for developing, validating, and launching manufacturing processes, equipment, tooling, and production systems required to support new product introductions and major product changes. The AME serves as the primary link between Product Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, and Manufacturing Operations to ensure products are designed for manufacturability and can be produced safely, efficiently, and at target cost and quality levels. Responsibilities include manufacturing process development, equipment and tooling specification, production line design, DFM/DFA activities, APQP deliverables, pilot builds, production readiness, and launch execution.
Leads the industrialization of new products by developing manufacturing strategies, production processes, tooling, automation, and assembly and test systems that enable successful product launches and scalable production. Collaborates with engineering and operations teams to ensure manufacturing readiness, production capability, quality performance, and achievement of long-term business objectives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Process Engineering and Manufacturing Development
- Lead new product introduction (NPI) activities and manufacturing planning in collaboration with R&D.
- Drive Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) improvements to ensure successful product launches.
- Develop, implement, and optimize assembly, testing, and manufacturing processes to improve safety, quality, capacity, and efficiency.
- Design manufacturing layouts, workflows, and material flow to maximize productivity and space utilization.
- Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation, including process flows, work instructions, PFMEAs, and standard operating procedures.
- Support manufacturing readiness, process validation, engineering change implementation, and production ramp-up activities.
Equipment, Automation & Operational Excellence
- Lead cross-functional projects involving Engineering, Operations, Quality, Maintenance, and Supply Chain to support product launches and strategic initiatives.
- Specify, procure, install, and validate manufacturing equipment, tooling, and automation systems.
- Identify and implement automation and capital improvement opportunities through cost-benefit and ROI analysis.
- Provide technical support for production issues and drive improvements in quality, productivity, cost, and operational performance.
- Support root cause investigations, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives related to manufacturing processes.
- Develop manufacturing solutions involving assembly, testing, material handling, welding, dispensing, marking, fastening, pressing, and ergonomic systems.
General Responsibilities

- Maintain compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
- Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
- Follow all company safety guidelines, policies, and procedures.
Key Performance Indicators:
- On-time NPI project completion and product launch
- Manufacturing readiness (equipment, tooling, processes, and documentation)
- Launch quality performance (first-pass yield, defects, scrap, and rework)
- Production ramp-up performance (cycle time, capacity, and throughput targets)
- Launch cost performance (labor, tooling, capital, and manufacturing costs)
- Successful implementation of process improvements, automation, and engineering changes
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Logistics Engineering, or a related technical field required.
- Five (5) or more years of experience in NPI or experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with assembly manufacturing operations in large-scale and/or global manufacturing environments preferred.
- Experience supporting new product introductions and capital equipment implementation preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong project management, communication, analytical, and cross-functional leadership skills.
- Experience leading New Product Introduction (NPI) and production launch activities.
- Strong knowledge of assembly manufacturing processes, production equipment, automation systems, and facility layout optimization.
- Experience with Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and concurrent engineering practices.
- Experience applying Lean Manufacturing principles to workflow optimization, capacity planning, labor utilization, and productivity improvement.
- Knowledge of APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plans, Process Flow Diagrams, and process validation activities.
- Experience specifying, implementing, and validating manufacturing equipment, tooling, and automation systems.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and PowerPoint.
- Experience with ERP, MRP, MES, PLM, or other manufacturing information systems preferred.
- Experience with AutoCAD, Visio, facility layout, or process mapping software preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, up to eight (8) hours per day.
- Ability to regularly move throughout manufacturing and warehouse environments.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures and noise levels.
- Ability to access production areas to conduct observations, audits, training, and improvement activities.
Travel Requirements:
- Up to 15% travel may be required to support other Greenworks facilities, suppliers, training, equipment installations, or project activities.
