Job Summary

The Administrative Nurse Manager maintains standards of the practice for nursing as defined by the American Nurses’ Association Code of Ethics, Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice, and Nursing’s Social Policy Statement.

The Administrative Nurse Manager actualizes the vision, mission, values, balanced scorecard, and performance measures for Montefiore Mount Vernon.

The Administrative Nurse Manager participates in performance improvement/research activities; maintains professional practice standards and clinical expertise; and demonstrates leadership skills. The Administrative Nurse Manager demonstrates core and unit-specific competencies based on the patient population served.

Is responsible for supervising, scheduling, hiring, and appraising the performance of nursing and ancillary associates. Coordinates other activities including but not limited to inventory management, budgeting, and performance improvement activities to promote efficient/effective operations and quality patient care. Demonstrates leadership and clinical expertise in area (s) of responsibility. Responsible for developing and maintaining competence of assigned associates.

Essential Functions:

• Integrates the standards of excellence into daily clinical practice.
• Integrates management/ leadership skills into daily clinical/administrative practice. To provide a consistent leadership/management approach to daily clinical/ administrative practice.
• Develop and implement an effective workforce planning strategy in alignment with resources available. Ensures a staffing plan of competent nurses and staff within their scope of responsibility and practice.
• Demonstrates ability to make independent decisions, effect change and seek guidance as appropriate. Assures that all assigned professionals deliver care according to policy, procedures and standards. Ensures delivery of optimal patient care in compliance with regulatory agencies and consistent with standards of care.

Qualifications:

• New York State Registered Professional RN License and current registration or valid permit to practice in New York State.·
• Master’s degree from an accredited program required or a projected graduation date within three years of position acceptance.·
• Minimum of two to three years of management experience or progressive leadership experience.·
• Minimum of three years of medical/surgical experience.
• BLS/ACLS Certification through AHA
• Infection Control Certification
