Compensation: $47.35 Per Contract Hour


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Facilitates student learning by delivering assigned classes in accordance with College policy and course objectives.
• Makes optimal use of available technology to enhance instructional methods.
• Develops/maintains course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials. Maintains accurate student records, grades, and other requirements.
• Engages with students in meaningful and productive ways that impact student learning and leads to a positive experience with Ivy Tech Community College, shows evidence of developing and implementing active classroom teaching strategies focused on engaging students with their learning (curricular).
• Interacts with students and co-workers in a professional and cooperative manner, complies with College policies, campus guidelines and expectations.
• Ensures knowledge of and implements emergency and safety procedures for classrooms, labs and all learning environments.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Completed academic preparation appropriate to the course(s) being taught.
• Holds an Indiana EMT or higher certification.
• Has two years of directly related work experience.
  

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Holds an associate degree or higher in Paramedic Science or related field.
• Holds an Indiana State Paramedic License.
• Holds an Indiana Department of Homeland Security Primary Instructor certification.
• Holds an AHA Instructor certification in BLS, ACLS, and/or PALS.
• Holds an NAEMT Instructor certification in PHTLS and/or AMLS.

RETENTION AND STUDENT SUCCESS:

1. Provide academic-related coaching and academic monitoring to assigned student advisees in partnership with professional academic advising staff.

2. Monitor and document student performance throughout the semester, including use of technology for academic advising alerts; provide necessary interventions to include communication with students, tutoring and other academic supports, and referrals to appropriate college resources.

3. Maintain posted office hours and student engagement hours in accordance with campus expectations and the faculty loading policy in the Academic Support and Operations Manual (ASOM 7.2).

4. Promote and assist in student recruitment, retention, and successful completion of programs, including outreach to students by phone, technology tools, and other electronic means.
