We’re looking for an Accounting Specialist to join our Retirement Operations team at MBPS. In this role, you are expected to support the accuracy and integrity of accounting and reconciliation processes for our US Retirement and Investment Operations business.
Position Responsibilities:
- Perform timely and accurate account reconciliations, investigate variances, and clear positive and negative positions across fund accounts.
- Monitor fund activities and process accounting-related transactions, including transfer-in-kind bookings, trade clearing, tax revisions, and cash management reconciliation setup.
- Support mutual fund events such as fund launches, liquidations, mergers, seed capital repatriations, and plan conversions.
- Review operational reports, analyze large volumes of data, identify exceptions, and summarize findings and recommendations for management.
- Partner with operations teams and other business units to address operational issues and implement process improvements that prevent discrepancies.
Required Qualifications:
- At least 1 to 2 years of relevant experience in financial services, accounting, investment operations, trust operations, or account reconciliation.
- Hands-on experience performing account reconciliations, investigating variances, and analyzing large datasets.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables, VLOOKUP or XLOOKUP, formulas, and data analysis techniques.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and reconciliation controls.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Knowledge of mutual funds, retirement plans, or investment operations.
- Experience using SmartView, Essbase, Lawson, DART, or similar financial systems.
- Experience using reconciliation platforms and financial reporting tools.
- Knowledge of Excel macros and experience supporting fund events, trading activities, or operational processes.
