The Academic & Workforce Development Coordinator leads coordination of HNL Lab Medicine’s workforce pipeline, academic partnerships, student programs, and educational support initiatives. This role supports current and future talent needs by managing student lifecycle activities, affiliation agreements, clinical rotations, internships, career exploration programs, tuition assistance, and tuition reimbursement.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Designs, coordinates, facilitates, and evaluates student and workforce development and career exploration programs that support HNL's talent pipeline strategy, including internships, shadowing, tours, educational outreach, Career Connections, Summer Immersion Program, and other workforce development initiatives.
  • Serves as the primary liaison between academic institutions, workforce development organizations, students, department leaders, clinical training sites, Human Resources, Talent Acquisition, and Organizational Development & Learning.
  • Coordinates the end-to-end student lifecycle process, including onboarding, orientation, placement, participation, evaluation, and completion activities.
  • Assists with curriculum development, course planning, instructor scheduling, and implementation of educational programs that support accreditation standards, organizational objectives, and learner development.
  • Compiles and maintains resources for professional development and continuing education available to all employees and provides guidance on learning and career development opportunities.
  • Develops, implements, and continuously improves standardized processes, communication tools, documentation, and program resources that support scalable and consistent student program administration.
  • Evaluates workforce development opportunities and provides recommendations regarding new academic partnerships, educational programs, workforce pathways, and talent pipeline initiatives aligned with organizational priorities.
  • Participates in organizational growth, integration, and expansion initiatives by assessing workforce pipeline programs, academic partnerships, student programs, and related processes and identifying opportunities for standardization and improvement.
  • Chairs and participates in organizational education committees, college advisory groups and strategic initiatives while identifying program needs, recommending improvements, and communicating outcomes and opportunities to leadership.
  • Administers organizational tuition assistance and tuition reimbursement programs, including participant support, communications, tracking, reporting, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Collaborates with Human Resources and Organizational Development & Learning to support student onboarding and learning activities within enterprise systems, including Workday, Cornerstone OnDemand (CSOD), and related technologies.
  • Utilizes technology, analytics, automation, and artificial intelligence (AI) to improve operational efficiency, reduce administrative burden, enhance stakeholder experience, and support data-informed decision making.
  • Develops and maintains reports, metrics, dashboards, and analyses related to workforce pipeline effectiveness, student programs, academic partnerships, and educational support programs.
  • Ensures compliance with organizational policies, regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, and program expectations related to workforce development and student programs.
  • Maintains current knowledge of workforce development trends, healthcare education programs, academic partnership models, workforce planning strategies, accreditation standards, clinical practice changes in laboratory medicine and emerging technologies to support continuous program enhancement and organizational growth.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Healthcare Administration, Education, Organizational Development, Human Resources, Business Administration, Workforce Development, Healthcare Management, or related field required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience coordinating workforce development programs, student programs, educational partnerships, healthcare education programs, internship programs, academic partnerships, employee development initiatives, or related functions required.
  • Experience working within healthcare, laboratory medicine, higher education, workforce development, or other regulated environments preferred.
  • Experience with affiliation agreements, student placements, workforce development initiatives, educational support programs, process improvement, project coordination, data analysis, Workday, learning management systems, and related technologies preferred.

Language Ability:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business documents, affiliation agreements, accreditation standards, policies, procedures, contracts, and professional literature. Ability to prepare reports, presentations, recommendations, communications, and stakeholder-facing documentation. Ability to effectively communicate and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Math Ability:

Ability to apply mathematical concepts including percentages, ratios, trends, statistical measures, and data analysis to workforce development metrics, program reporting, and business planning activities.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to work independently while demonstrating initiative, strategic thinking, analytical ability, and sound judgment. Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously, identify opportunities for improvement, solve problems, evaluate alternatives, and develop practical recommendations. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail required.

Computer Skills:

  • Highly proficient in Microsoft 365 applications including SharePoint, Teams, Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Forms, Planner, and related collaboration technologies.
  • Knowledge of Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS), Learning Management Systems (LMS), reporting platforms, workflow technologies, and AI-enabled productivity tools.
  • Experience with Workday, Cornerstone OnDemand (CSOD), reporting tools, dashboard development, automation technologies, and workforce planning systems preferred.

Certificates and Licenses:

Professional certifications related to workforce development, talent development, project management, human resources, healthcare education, change management, or related disciplines preferred.
