Overview:

Summer Interns complete a 10 week internship centered around professional development, career growth and building the necessary skills to succeed.  Summer Interns participate in projects and department initiatives that accelerate career growth and play an important role in building the future of the Bank.  As an Intern, you will gain exposure to other departments through guest speakers and industry leaders and a built-in network with peers as well as priority consideration for full time opportunities throughout the Bank.

Department Description:

The Family Wealth Investment team provides comprehensive investment management services to meet the needs of the more complex Wealth Advisory Services clients often as a member of a dedicated relationship team.  We recommend investment solutions via a needs-based, consultative approach, and proactively contribute to the client relationship.

• Support Investment Advisors and Investment Associates with client service activities, prepare and review materials in advance of client meetings and collaborate with members of the client service teams.
• Maintain current knowledge of financial markets, the Wilmington Trust investment process, and the firm’s wealth management solutions and services.
• Develop a holistic understanding of the wealth management business through exposure to investment management, financial planning, trust and estate services, banking, family office solutions, and client relationship management.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Complete duties and responsibilities of an entry-level professional nature specific to assigned area of the Bank.
• Ensure activities adhere to established internal policies and external regulations as applicable. 
• Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite.  Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
• Design, implement, maintain and enhance internal controls to mitigate risk on an ongoing basis.  Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
• Promote an environment that supports belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
• Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
• Complete other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Required:

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree
• Minimum Cumulative GPA of 3.0
