Sobre este puesto de Wiring Harness Sourcing Specialist en Exponent Energy
Role: Wiring Harness Sourcing Specialist
Department: Strategic Sourcing Location: Bengaluru, India Experience: 5-8 Years
Your Team:
You’ll be working with the Strategic Sourcing Team.
Our philosophy:
Break. Believe. Build.
Break stuff, break assumptions, break the thumb rule.
Believe in the team, the process, and through failures.
Build fast, build passionately, build to simplify.
Own it like you mean it.
What you’ll do:
Commodity strategy: build and run the wire harness commodity strategy, covering supplier base, dual sourcing and cost roadmap.
- New part development: manage RFQs, technical and commercial evaluation, supplier nomination, and development through proto, PPAP and SOP, working with design, electrical engineering, quality and program teams.
- Should-cost and negotiation: prepare harness cost breakdowns (copper and cable cost by length and gauge, terminals, connectors, accessories, crimping, assembly and test labour, EOL testing, overheads, profit). Lead fact-based negotiations and annual price reviews.
- Copper and RM indexation: put copper-indexed pricing mechanisms in place and manage them, then validate supplier claims for raw-material price variation.
- Supplier development: assess and audit harness suppliers for capability, process control (crimp height and pull test, crimp cross-section, EOL/continuity testing, error-proofing), capacity and quality systems. Drive corrective actions and improvements.
- Connector and terminal sourcing: manage sourcing and lead times for branded connectors and terminals (TE, Amphenol, Molex, Aptiv, Yazaki, JST and others), including alternates and approved-equivalent strategies.
- VA/VE: find cost-reduction opportunities through routing optimisation, wire gauge and material changes, connector standardisation and design-for-manufacture.
- Supply continuity: track capacity, lead times and risks for long-lead and single-source components. Support ramp-ups and engineering change implementation.
- Commercial and documentation: manage POs, schedule agreements, purchase agreements, tooling (crimp applicators, assembly boards, test fixtures) and supplier performance scorecards. What you’ll bring:
Technical knowledge required
- Wire harness design and manufacturing: cutting, stripping, crimping, ultrasonic welding, soldering, sealing, taping, sleeving, conduits, overmoulding and formboard assembly
- HV and LV harnesses, including high-voltage EV cables, shielding, HV connectors and HVIL
- Cable specs and standards: ISO 6722, ISO 19642, LV 112, USCAR-21, IPC/WHMA-A-620
- Reading harness drawings, 2D formboard layouts, schematics and BOMs
- Harness testing and validation: continuity, hipot, insulation resistance, pull test, crimp cross-section analysis
- Quality systems: APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, control plans, IATF 16949
Education qualification
Experience: 5–8 years in wire harness, either at a Tier-1 wire harness manufacturer (in engineering, NPD+Costing or sales) or in commodity sourcing at an automotive or EV OEM
- Education: B.E./B.Tech in Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical or Automobile Engineering
What matters to us:
- Strong commodity expertise, credible in technical discussions with suppliers and design teams
- Strong costing and negotiation skills
