Day in the Life of a Vice President of OBOT Pharmacy Operations

Key Responsibilities

Portfolio Leadership & Strategy:

• Provide end-to-end leadership and serve as the single point of accountability for the OBOT pharmacy, medication administration, and dispensing/delivery models (buy-and-bill, alternative medications, and oral medication dispensing programs), bridging internal teams and external partners to ensure adoption, performance, and long-term sustainability.
• Lead and develop the established OBOT Buy & Bill and Alternative Medications teams, and build out the team and capabilities for the emerging OBOT oral medication dispensing and delivery functions, with latitude to shape its structure as it scales.
• Define and execute the strategic roadmap for each program across stages of maturity, balancing near-term execution with long-term growth.
• Hold shared accountability for the portfolio's P&L and financial performance in partnership with the Chief Operations Officer and Finance Department, including budget development and performance management.
• Establish, track, and report portfolio success metrics (financial, operational, and clinical) to senior leadership and executive stakeholders.
• Manage drug manufacturer, distributor and pharmacy partner relationships and agreements.
• Manage, track and report OBOT medication inventory.
• Oversight of all required OBOT medication reporting, including state central registries (CRs) and prescription drug monitoring programs (PDMPs).
• Manage all consulting pharmacists engaged for OBOT pharmacy models, including the Tennessee OBOT Plus Consultant Pharmacist.

Operational Execution & Compliance:

• Lead the Buy & Bill team responsible for end-to-end buy-and-bill operations within the OBOTs, including procurement, inventory management, revenue cycle management (RCM) coordination, and reimbursement performance.
• Lead the Alternative Medications team responsible for the specialty-pharmacy-coordinated LAI program in OBOTs, including pharmacy coordination, delivery scheduling, and patient case management, to optimize program performance and patient access.
• Build out and lead the team responsible for the OBOT oral medication access program across dispensing and delivery models (e.g., onsite center dispensing and direct-to-patient delivery).
• Develop, implement, and maintain scalable workflows, SOPs, trainings, readiness assessments, and governance structures across all programs.
• Lead cross-functional working groups (e.g., MedOps, RCM, Finance, Clinical, ClinApps, Compliance, IT) to support program processes and performance.
• Coordinate with the Patient Access Center and Operations on patient education and adoption.
• Partner with the Chief Compliance Officer and the Vice President of DEA & Pharmacy Compliance to ensure enterprise-wide alignment with federal, state, and local laws and regulations (including state departments of health, DEA, state boards of pharmacy, manufacturer agreements, and payer contracts) governing the purchasing, storing, prescribing, dispensing, delivery, and distribution of controlled substance medications.
• Drive continuous improvement through data quality evaluation, outcome measurement, issue resolution, and best-practice adoption.
• Other duties as assigned by the COO.

Schedule & Locations

• This position will mainly be a remote role with travel. Expectation of travel to Greenville, SC, headquarters, and centers as needed, up to 25%, scaled to program and center needs.

Preferred Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business administration, pharmacy, or a related field; advanced degree (MBA, MHA, PharmD) preferred.
• Minimum of 8 years of healthcare operations experience, including 4+ years of leadership experience managing teams and other people-leaders.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills; ability to manage and scale multiple programs simultaneously.
• Demonstrated experience managing a program or business-unit P&L, budgets, and vendor/manufacturer relationships.
• Proven leadership, self-starter mentality, and the ability to build and scale programs.
• Experience in pharmacy operations, specialty pharmacy, buy-and-bill, and/or controlled-substance program management preferred.
• Experience in substance use disorder, behavioral health, or a related clinical setting preferred.
• Active pharmacy licensure or credential (e.g., PharmD, RPh, CPhT) is a plus but not required.
