Position Summary
The VAS Lead is responsible for overseeing daily VAS operations, including customer returns, project execution, staffing, productivity, quality, and customer requirements.
The VAS Lead will manage temporary labor requests, collaborate with staffing agency representatives and site leadership to ensure appropriate labor coverage, and provide direction and support to VAS and Returns team members. This role will also monitor operational performance, address issues, and ensure projects and returns are completed safely, accurately, and within established timelines.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Lead the day-to-day execution of VAS projects from initiation through completion, ensuring work is completed safely, accurately, efficiently, and on schedule.
- Provide direction, coaching, and support to VAS associates and temporary employees, ensuring clear expectations for productivity, quality, and safety.
- Partner with clients, Customer Service, Operations, and warehouse leadership to establish project scope, priorities, timelines, staffing, and resource requirements.
- Ensure materials, supplies, equipment, work instructions, and documentation are available and ready prior to project start.
- Monitor daily productivity, quality, staffing, and project progress; communicate status and proactively address issues that may impact timelines or customer commitments.
- Identify operational challenges and implement or recommend solutions to maintain project efficiency and service levels.
- Ensure VAS and customer returns activities are completed accurately and in accordance with customer-specific work instructions and service level agreements.
- Coordinate staffing needs with temporary staffing agencies and support onboarding, training, attendance, performance, and assignment management.
- Review and validate staffing agency invoices for accuracy, including hours worked, billing rates, and applicable agency mark-up rates, ensuring charges align with established agreements.
- Maintain accurate project, production, staffing, and invoice records while providing timely updates to leadership and escalating discrepancies or concerns as appropriate.
- Promote a safe, organized, and productive work environment and serve as a key point of contact for VAS operations, escalating issues to warehouse leadership as appropriate.
Position Requirements
The successful Candidate will possess the following skills and abilities:
- Previous warehouse, distribution, VAS, returns, or related operational experience; prior lead experience preferred.
- Strong attention to detail, particularly when reviewing productivity, staffing, and agency billing information.
- Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to effectively direct and support a team.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and email; experience with warehouse management systems preferred.
- High school education or equivalency, higher education preferred
- Regular manual labor including; lifting, placing, packing and numerous repetitive tasks depending on the particular project
- Percentage of time spent in warehouse: 100%
Physical Demands
- Constantly moves about the facility floor; stands and walks on concrete surfaces for 8 to 10 hours per shift.
- Frequently lifts and repositions packages or containers weighing up to 50 lbs. Regularly pushes or pulls rolling carts or manual pallet jacks loaded with inventory.
- Continually reaches, stretches, bends, stoops, kneels, and crouches to access low-level or high-level inventory racking.
- Grasps, manipulates, and handles shipping materials, scanning hardware, and individual products of varying shapes and sizes.
- Performs work in a dynamic warehouse environment subject to seasonal temperature variations, dust, and continuous noise from machinery. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as steel-toed boots and high-visibility vests are strictly required.
