Senior Operational Risk Leader

We are seeking a talented individual to join our team at Marsh.   This role can be based in Toronto or New York City. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office. This role will lead the strengthening and modernization of operational risk and internal control capabilities across the end-to-end client and placement lifecycle. The Senior Operational Risk Leader will serve as a technical practice leader and strategic partner to the First Line, helping to drive consistent, scalable, and effective risk management outcomes across value streams. This role will also play an important part in connecting the Three Lines model by partnering closely with Risk & Compliance and Internal Audit.

We will count on you to:

• Lead the design and implementation of a standardized operational risk and internal control framework tailored to Marsh’s brokerage and advisory environment.
• Drive operational risk event, issue, and remediation management, including incident triage, root cause analysis, closure validation, and sustainable corrective actions.
• Build and enhance key risk indicators, dashboards, thematic reporting, and executive-level governance materials to improve transparency and support decision-making.
• Partner with business, operations, and technology leaders to embed control-by-design into transformation initiatives, new products, vendor changes, and operating model enhancements.
• Lead or support operational resilience efforts, including scenario analysis, continuity planning, and coordination across critical business services and third-party dependencies.
• Act as a key connector across the First, Second, and Third Lines to strengthen risk governance, control execution, and closure of findings.

What you need to have:

• 15+ years of experience in operational risk, internal controls, operational resilience, and/or risk governance within financial services or complex professional services environments.
• Demonstrated success building and implementing risk frameworks, including RCSA, issue management, control libraries, and governance reporting.
• Strong leadership and influencing skills, with experience working across matrixed teams spanning business, operations, technology, compliance, and audit.
• Deep understanding of how operational failures can lead to client harm, regulatory exposure, reputational risk, and E&O outcomes.

• Experience within insurance brokerage, risk advisory, or a closely related intermediary environment.
• Strong analytical capability, including experience using metrics, KRIs, scenario analysis, and data-driven prioritization to inform decisions.
• Excellent executive communication skills, with the ability to translate complex risk issues into clear, practical recommendations.

All Marsh colleagues are expected to be in their local office or working onsite with clients at least three days per week. Office-based teams will identify at least one “anchor day” per week on which their full team will be together in person.

The applicable base salary range for this role is $127,700 to $271,900.

The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
