ULTRASOUND TECHNOLOGIST

Scrotal, Penile Doppler & Men’s Health Imaging Specialist

Men’s Health Center  |  Carmel & Greenwood, IN

Position Summary

The Men’s Health Center at Urology of Indiana is one of the leading men’s health programs in the United States, providing comprehensive diagnostics and treatments for conditions including erectile dysfunction, Peyronie’s disease, male infertility, and hypogonadism. We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Ultrasound Technologist to join our team. This role offers the opportunity to serve as an integral member of a collaborative care team where your imaging expertise will directly influence clinical decision-making and patient outcomes.

We are looking for someone who is comfortable in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and who takes pride in delivering excellent patient care. We maintain high standards, value adaptability, and foster a positive team culture.

Why This Role Is Different

  • Be Part of a National Center of Excellence. Our Men’s Health Center is recognized as one of the foremost programs in the country. You’ll work alongside fellowship-trained men’s health urologists performing over 250 penile implant procedures annually, with access to the latest technologies and treatment approaches.
  • Your Work Matters. This isn’t a “scan and move on” position. Your ultrasound findings will be integral to clinical decision-making—from surgical planning to guiding real-time treatment. You’ll be a key voice in the room.
  • Grow Your Career. Gain specialized experience in penile and scrotal Doppler imaging, intracavernosal injection protocols, and Peyronie’s deformity assessment—skills that are in high demand and will distinguish you in the field.
  • Positive Team Culture. We believe quality patient care and a supportive work environment go hand in hand. Expect high standards, mentorship, and a collegial team that values collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

Diagnostic Imaging

  • Perform scrotal, testicular, and penile Doppler ultrasound examinations, including evaluation of blood flow, masses, trauma, torsion, varicoceles, and other urologic conditions.
  • Produce high-quality diagnostic images following established protocols and clinical guidelines.
  • Properly identify, label, and document all anatomical and pathological findings in the electronic medical record.
  • Assist in developing and refining scanning protocols related to scrotal, penile, and Doppler imaging.
  • Support general ultrasound imaging as needed (abdominal, pelvic, small parts, vascular, etc.).

Procedural & Clinical Duties

  • Perform intracavernosal injections (ICI) to induce tumescence using vasoactive agents (e.g., bimix, trimix) and administer phenylephrine for detumescence as part of penile Doppler studies and clinical evaluations.
  • Measure, document, and photograph Peyronie’s disease deformities, including degree of curvature, plaque location, and penile dimensions, per standardized clinical protocols.
  • Prepare patients by explaining procedures—including sensitive and intimate aspects of care—with professionalism, empathy, and clear communication.
  • Collaborate closely with urologists, advanced practice providers, and clinical staff to support patient diagnosis and treatment planning.

Operations & Equipment

  • Travel between Carmel and Greenwood office locations as needed, including safe transport and setup of a portable ultrasound unit.
  • Maintain and operate ultrasound equipment, reporting any malfunctions or calibration needs promptly.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA, patient confidentiality, and all applicable regulatory standards.
  • Maintain accurate imaging records and logs in the electronic medical record system.
  • Demonstrate flexibility to accommodate same-day add-on patients in addition to the scheduled imaging schedule.

Qualifications

Required

  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) credential.
  • Minimum 1–2 years’ experience performing scrotal and Doppler ultrasound examinations (or equivalent clinical training).
  • Strong understanding of anatomy, physiology, and pathology related to the male reproductive and vascular systems.
  • Proficiency in Doppler techniques including color, power, and spectral Doppler.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills with the ability to discuss intimate healthcare needs with patients in a manner that builds trust and rapport.
  • Ability to work independently, manage a fast-paced schedule, and adapt to changing daily priorities including same-day add-on patients.
  • Willingness to travel between Carmel and Greenwood locations and transport portable ultrasound equipment.
  • Strong documentation and organizational skills.

Preferred

  • RVT or equivalent vascular credential.
  • Experience in a urology, andrology, or men’s health clinical setting.
  • Familiarity with intracavernosal injection protocols and penile Doppler imaging.
  • Experience with Peyronie’s disease assessment and documentation.
  • Familiarity with sonography-guided procedures.
  • Experience with PACS and EMR systems.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Specialized urology practice with dual locations in Carmel and Greenwood, IN.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods during scanning procedures.
  • Ability to lift, move, or assist patients as needed.
  • Manual dexterity required for scanning, injection procedures, and equipment operation.
  • Must have reliable transportation for travel between office locations.
